Can we now move the Mitchell talk over into the thread in Spurs chat please? It doesn't make sense to have it going on in two threads.

Lads, we've lost a fucking head scout... that's it. It's like the guy who orders printer cartridges in your office quit. Yeah, he was really good at it - he could predict when the cartridges would need replacing, was top notch at getting the cartridges cheap and he saved the company a couple of quid, but at the end of the day, he was the fucking printer cartridge guy.
Not really. We can't spend big money, so now more than ever we rely on a head scout. One that's damn good. One that the manager trusts and has a history with. That isn't a small mater

True but Mitchell isn't the only one,he didn't recruit Kane,Dier and Ali arguably our 3 best players. I'm sure we will not only survive but continue to prosper...just with someone different in the role

Finally some doom and gloom has returned to the Spurs fold. It was all too optimistic for a while and I couldn't handle it.

Reality.
We closed last summer window with two glaring holes in our squad, DM and CF.
We got lucky in the fact Dier came good in DM and Kane stayed fit and firing at CF.
Does that mean we should ride our luck again, please god no.

So, on to the current state of affairs. If the window closed today, would we be stronger? We have of identified and signed a PL and CL experienced DM, known to our manager and his philosophies. We have identified and signed a young CF, who was prolific on a lease league, but equally has taken that same form up to Internatonal level football. We have Holland's current CF of preference.
Have we lost any key players?
Have we got some talented youngsters really starting to emerge?

I think we're in a stronger position than last season. Plus I feel the lack of upheaval compared to other teams will be another benefit.

COYS!!

(Oh, and I still think there will be one more signing, either a CM of AM, dependant on other outgoings).

Playing the season with Njie or Nkoudou as our second backup wide forward will make very little difference. We're in a superb position right now. I genuinely have never felt we are so well prepared for an upcoming season.

In fact I would say that our biggest transfer priority now is getting Bentaleb out, as there's a danger that that situation could affect the prized dressing room harmony. Otherwise I think we are done (probably Yedlin and Chadli to follow out too).

Update.

After a fairly lengthy conversation with my mate(He must want something) it appears very little has changed. GKN is a little complicated but was never dependant on N'Jie leaving as far as we were concerned. I said a while back in the N'jie thread I'd be very surprised if he was sold because Poch likes him, nothing has changed in that respect. I do think we need to move one AM out though in order to create space for KGN and that is looking more and more likely to be Chadli. None of the fringe players look like they want to leave though, and as before, they are not being pushed.

Asked about the so called "special player" and was told the same as last week "unless there any significant outs no one else will come in".

Just remember whatever happens MP has the final decision on all in's and outs, and no one he wants to keep will be sold!

Not going to bother posting any more updates this window unless I hear something significantly different, as every week it seems to me I'm hearing the same story just worded slightly different. Was told 3 a month before the start of the window and still hearing that now. It was always going to be a quiet one with the focus very much on developing the very strong unit we have already assembled.

Bentaleb, Chadli, Mason, Carroll and Yedlin should all be sold. Then we should make 1 or 2 signings, a CM and/or an AM.

If GKN finally comes, Chadli leaves and Njie stays then I think we're looking more or less in very good shape.

My only worry then would be the future of Bentaleb as I am not a huge fan of Carroll and Mason but Winks' recent performances have given me more confidence in that area.
