Good sundayness

A new thread because the old one was filling with rubbish

Good news!

I've just got first place in a national bullshitting competition.

Well, I actually came 12th.

To be honest, there wasn't even a competition.

So are you bullshitting about the bullshitting contest. Or bullshitting about bullshitting about the bullshitting contest. If the bullshit about the bullshitting contest is not bullshit, did we come first or is that just bullshit too?

The most recent itk hasn't been what anyone wants to hear probably but certainly not surprising, very much yet another transitional year again for us.

Does Levy realise that this lack of ITK is seriously doing people's heads in on Spurs boards worldwide, including this one? Inconsiderate little managing director!

I'm sick of moaning about lack of ITK, can we hurry up be linked with Carlton Cole or something so we've got something new to grumble about.

I know it's early in the window but is it time to say the unthinkable, what if we do no transfer business at all ? No purchases, no sales, promote some youth ? Would it be terrible ? I know this Forum would be dead but from a footballing perspective how bad would it be ?

Before you answer just look back 12 months, what if we hadn't signed Janssen, GKN and Sissoko would we better or worse now ? (I know I'm intentionally missing out Wanyama)

I think you always need to add at least one player to be a starter, or competing very hard for a starting place from the outset, every season. Just to keep everyone on their toes and change up the dynamics. Not matter how well the unit functions it always needs someone to freshen it up.

What a sensible post - what's it doing on this forum? ;-) For me, priority has to be keeping players this summer. We could use upgrades on all three you mention, but then again we also have Danny Rose and Lamela to come back into the squad.

Replacing any departures (Walker?) would be important, but I really think we lucked out with Son. We're unlikely to sign as good a player who wouldn't want to be a regular starter, and we've finally got a manager who knows what his first XI is.

This is spot on. Think it's just that as a fan base we aren't quite used to having a squad as good as this one. The wheeling-dealing days of major squad turnover are thankfully behind us. And whilst that gives some excitement over the summer it's much more pleasing to have a settled, high-quality squad season after season. If we can add a smart addition or two great, but if there isn't anyone available that is worth getting then so be it. We'll be class again next year regardless.
