I just can't get excited about this, a decent player but I don't really see him as a big step up from what we already have. I would also hate to see Soldado get pushed further down the pecking order. As a LWF he is okay, fast but doesn't fit into the three rotating number 10's that Chadli was talking about a week or so back and I really like that concept. I can't imagine Welbeck will come to us and be happy starting on the bench or being a rotation option, he will want a starting spot. Really not fussed at all about this one if I'm honest.
I don't get the Soldado thing. As far as I'm concerned he's 3rd choice at the moment. He doesn't offer any pace or holdup play. Even against Limassol, we looked a worse team with him up there. At least Wellbeck would give us the option of someone pushing centrehalves back with his pace and runs; giving Lamela and Eriksen more space to operate in.

Left wing forward is the only position we need to fill now really. I'm not a fan of Welbeck personally as I don't think he has a great football brain and is more a reaction type of player. I worry he wont be on the same wavelength as Eriksen and Lamela. However if Poch thinks he can work with him then I am happy to reserve judgement. Afterall Poch was great with the English talent at Saints and a big reason a few were called up for England.

If it comes off then this will be the first time I can remember where we've actually filled every position we needed to strengthen in. I wont have anything to moan about on Tuesday morning.

I think it means we have a buyer for soldado. So we need back up to Ade and maybe he can do a job up there or out wide. I'm expecting it to be a loan or a levy bargain that's all. Can't go into the season with only 2 strikers.

At this point, I would be very surprised if we've found a taker for Soldado.

Uhhh, no it doesn't. It's called a LWF aka a left wing forward. Danny Welbeck will be an LWF here aka the Jah Rodriguez role. We have an LWF now, apparently(hope it's loan with view to buy).

Welbeck strikes me as a player who is quick of thought and with good goal-scoring instincts. He can play anywhere in the top four. Pochettino should be able to improve him him as a player. He's done it with lesser lights before. He could do it for Welbeck.

I'm excited at the prospect of Welbeck joining Spurs. It should be good for both Club and player.

If Welbeck selects another option I'd have to question the advice he's being given.

And I hope it's a permanent deal.

He's a talent waiting to break out.

Spurs can be just the vehicle to make him the star he can be.

I be pleased if we got Wel beck. He could be the new JRod. I also think he's a better fit for the cf role in Poch system than Soldado. Surprised if MU let him go.

Following up on the recent ITK (that Spurs may be interested in more than one Utd player) the other player that i'd like to see joining us from Man Utd (part from DW) is Antonio Valencia. He's fast and can play right defence. Typically he's used on the right wing - but why not play him on the left? He's got a good shot. On the left wing he could use it more.

Hoping we get in at least one of see players.

Yes but I mean he can do both roles if needed. Unlike soldado.....he's struggling to do one role at the moment.

Highly optimistic I know, but would love a loan or last minute transfer of a Real Madrid Player. I believe we had ITK yesterday about looking to loan a player from Madrid

Which player is a likely suitor?

I'm sorry but Valencia has been very underwhelming for utd... A massive step down from what already have

As a stand-alone player he may not be one to get everybody's pulse racing, but looking at the qualities he does have I can see why he might well be an excellent cog in the Pochettino machine - where the whole can only be greater than the sum of its parts IF you have the right parts.

Firstly, the fact that he is able to play pretty much anywhere in Poch's front four is a plus. And secondly, that front four need to work their socks off, especially when we don't have possession, and watching Welbeck you can see that this is already part of his natural game.

He needs to improve his decision-making, but I think we've already seen with a few of our players that Poch could be the right man to help him with that.
