Yes i get Jesus is the son of God. But then the cryptic would refer to the son of God no? I'd love Martins here, but seems more wishful thinking than a likely answer. But since so many seem to think it might be him I was wondering if there's some obvious link to the player Gelson Martins i don't see?

I think the original response suggesting the player was a joke. It was optimistic/fanciful in the extreme.

The suggestion has since seemingly taken on a life of its own and everyone's getting excited, which is pretty funny!

The transfer window makes mental cases of everyone

Moussa Dembele = the 2nd coming as we already one

But this has been dismissed as not the answer right?

Correct. Was mentioned prior to A&C's "name has not been mentioned yet" post, and Herc said to close the Moussa thread (in the thread).

Clarity on Gray. It could well happen! But then again that could be said about 2 others in the same position. And if so, he won't. You can be very sure on very absolute minimum of one in that position, with likelihood of another.

So two wide forwards? That is very bloody exciting!

Also thanks to all the ITKs for their hard work and sharing their information

So that's foxy and breezy signalling by their post ratings that this has legs.

If we can bring him in then this window could well end up going down in history, as we still wouldn't be finished.

That would be 3 stonkers in the bag (Sanchez, Aurier, Martins)

If Gelson Martins really is the signing, would be brilliant. He had a superb game against Marcelo, when playing Real Madrid in CL

Hope this is the one

Martins apparently has a release clause of 54m but Sporting can raise it if they make a one off payment of 1.3m ( presumably to the player ? )
Apparently quoted Liverpool 90m earlier in window

Ivan is the common Slavic Latin spelling, while Cyrillic spelling is two-fold: In Bulgarian, Russian, Macedonian, Serbian and Montenegrin it is Иван, while in Belarusian and Ukrainianit is Iван. The Old Church Slavonic (or Old Cyrillic) spelling is Їωан).

It is the Slavic relative of the Latin name Johannes, corresponding to English John.[1] This Slavic version of the name originates from New Testament Greek Ἰωάννης (Iōánnēs) rather than from the Latin Io(h)annes. The Greek name is in turn derived from Hebrew יוֹחָנָן (Yôḥānān), meaning "YHWH (God) is gracious". The name is ultimately derived from the Biblical Hebrew name יוחנן (pronounced [joχanan]), short for יהוחנן (pronounced [jəhoχanan]), meaning "God is merciful". Common patronymics derived from the name are Ivanović (Serbo-Croatian), Ivanov (Russian and Bulgarian), and Ivanovich (Russian, used as middle name), corresponding to "Ivan's son".

The Hebrew scholar Wilhelm Gesenius [1786–1842] suggested that the Hebrew punctuation יַהְוֶה, which is transliterated into English as "Yahweh", might more accurately represent the pronunciation of the tetragrammaton than the Biblical Hebrew punctuation "יְהֹוָה", from which the English name "Jehovah" has been derived.

It probably isn't Martins, but that seems to be getting some positive ratings from ITKs, so let's go with it for now...

Eric Dier and Gelson Martins played on the same team in the Sporting academy on a few occasions, although they were a year apart in age group.

Would be interesting if they were close in their few years together at Sporting - i.e. would us having Dier give Martins any extra incentive to join?

Herc did mention that Levy had a decision to make re: breaking the bank for one of their targets vs settling for a secondary option.

Martins seems to fit that, in that the fee would be high but his wages would likely fit right with our wage structure (which seems to always be the sticking point).
