We just sold our own Jack Rodwell to Hull...

A Spurs-supporting one without injury issues. Would be a pointless transfer.

Unless we have bid on Southampton's behalf this would be an incredibly disappointing signing.

We have more than enough depth in CM, Schneiderlin is just an exceptional case...

Would be very surprised if we were interested.

Clearly pursuing Schneiderlin so this wouldn't make any sense at all.

Bunion Boy @bunionboy2011
@jetsetyid @JaiP72 is J-Rod still in the equation or was he ever?...I feel a last min deal for Remy....what's Daniel say....

The original JJetset@jetsetyid

@bunionboy2011 @JaiP72 j rod was never for this transfer window.....
That's upped my suspicions that Southampton leaked the story deliberately to the press and it was not very truthful. Unless we could have agreed a transfer for January now but that's very unlikely. However, JJ does seem to be suggesting that we will go for him in January and I'm happy with that. It seems that we were being sensible regarding his injury and seeing how it heals over time and if there are any setbacks etc.

Ben Smith (BBC) did say he agreed terms with us in Toronto. Wouldn't have done so on a whim.

Southampton/the press may have been informed of this as part of the reason why he keeps turning down new contracts...

Strange. I've never seen a move agreed in the Summer for a January move. Obviously the opposite happens when pre-contracts are involved .

Baffling.

I have a feeling we are going to be far more active still in this transfer window than anyone expects us to be. Plenty of unexpected things to happen still IMO.

I personally think we will show ourselves to be opportunistic. Just like this Dier signing. We knew the fine print of his contract and took advantage. Landing a player like Dier without any sell-on % tied to it is incredible business.

Ben Smith's article actually quotes Krueger as saying that there were NO discussions, let alone agreements, about the 2 players in Toronto.

I initially read that latest 'ITK' as Jay Rodriguez being City-bound. Shit me up.

Completely forgot Jack Rodwell existed, which says it all really.

I agree, but I think most will be youngsters. I'm hoping we get Vlasic, he looks quality for his age. For the first team, I could see 1 CB and Schneiderlin and I think we will be done.

Also;

Group stages of Europa and initial rounds of the league cup allowing us to rest players.

Also a more advanced lb than Davies that may allow attacking tactical shifts during the game or changing to wing backs etc if needed....

Not a starting player, but will be important as a squad player...
Agree he is squad player .

More attacking...that is questionable - fact is he CANNOT cross and always hits the first man. He is the least intelligent player in our squad, IMO. Even Naughton, I believe understands his limitation and plays accordingly.

Its also unfair to blame Rose on one past, coz he is not a natural defender. I hope he learns the trade from the manager, who was a defender himself & improves his skills.

Just read through the last 20 pages here.
After the day we signed Lamela, I guess this one has to be the most discussed ITK thread in a day

Thanks to @iluvsteffenfreund - who am still not sure a ITK. But given A&C didn't say anything against his info unlike LLM (from last window), I guess I will take his word for it.

Thanks for sharing the info @iluvsteffenfreund

One thing is clear to me.
I think for the first time, I seriously believe there is an honest effort from club to sign players, the manager wanted & also to get that players before season starts.

It's possible that MS deal could drag on - but is really heartening to see we are going for deals that manager wants...

The Rodwell link if true says to me we're still concerned about how we're going to make registering the squad work with so many senior non-HG players. We had 20 at the start of the window, and as of yet seem only on the verge of having moved on one in Falque after allowing Gomes' contract to expire, but acquired two more in Vorm and now Dier. From how things appear at the moment, Sandro looks set to move, as does Vlad, which would bring us only back down to 18; and we'd have to find a way to move at least another two for sale or loan (likely Benny, Khumalo, and Ceballos) if we want to bring in any other non-HG targets this summer (such as Musacchio, or a winger should we choose to leave Rodriguez alone).

I would also suspect the club is at least feeling out other options in case Saints play serious hardball over Schneiderlin or do in fact entirely refuse altogether. So Rodwell would not only not compound the problem above, but would provide a decent enough backup option to Capoue with the versatility to also play alongside him if need be.

Keep in mind, despite him being around a good while, Rodwell is still rather youngish at 23. Poch has improved less experienced players at older ages than Rodwell.

Two years ago the threads were close to 50 pages almost every day. This has been a real slow year comparatively.
