ESPN talking about Cazorla completing a move to Arsenal within the next few days. Harping on how good he is. Just sorting finances that is owed from Malaga to the player. Sahin to Arsenal 100% also say the Journos on 'Press Pass'

1 Re football finances, this is a tough read but its pretty accurate and unbiased about all the clubs. http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Tottenham Hotspur.

2 If you had been on here a few months ago you might have understood many fans believiung that Redknapp went for non footballing reasons - couple of articles here if yiu scroll down to May/June http://windycoys.blogspot.co.uk/

3 Bassong - 4m?, Bentley - 3.5m?, JJ - 3.5m?, Defoe - 10m?, Gio ?

These may be reasonable guesses - but several have been for sale for several years, so don't pin your hopes on getting these amounts in.

4 'I don't believe Levy will offer anyone beyond 80k a week'

Its not what Levy offers which is the problem - its what strikers are demanding.

5 'We buy young talents, who could potentially become top, top player i.e Modric'

That is certainly Levy's preferred way forward. However sometimes its not possible - eg we do not have a pool of young strikers hence we have to go for an experienced one such as Ade, and despite Levy's negotiations its not cheap at £5m + £6m pa.

Ideally we would get a young striker - but only if available at the 'right' price.

IMO, as said before, there is investment for say 2 strikers and Modric replacement (and maybe another) - but not necessarily on the scale you seem to believe !

We can generate the funds from selling our dead wood.

Niko
Charlie
Modric
Pienaar
Pav

Apart from Modric have already been sold, King is off the wages (player wages that is), we've released a few players as well and hopefully we can get rid of Gomes, Bentley, GDS, JJ ect.

1; I'm sure that article is well informed, more informed than my opinion and I'll take your word for it. Although we aren't public listed anymore, so maybe we have ways of being creative without prying eyes taking notice.

2; I agree, Redknapp was sacked for personal reasons, but the club clearly have ambitions for challenging for major honours and appointing a new manager (who cost Chelsea 15m last summer), new staff, sacking previous staff cost money and a decision we could afford.

3; Defoe would cost 10m, his goal record clearly shows he's a valuable asset. Bassong has had admirers, Bentley will be hard to shift, JJ still a good option for clubs, Gio managed to attract a 10m bid which he personally rejected, so interest is there but AVB has already mentioned about giving players a chance.

4; Strikers don't demand 80k a week, players with reputation demand high wages and our business model shows we buy young talented players. At the moment we only have one striker, but judging the way Levy does business he normally offers players a decent wage, but if they prove their worth, he'll re-negotiate to reward players for their hard work. Rondon for instance, could cost around 50k a week, whilst worked with bonuses ect.

5; Ade won't be cheap, but around 80k a week it's the best we can afford, realistically we can't compete with the top sides financially. We either sell to a major investor, or we sit tight till we move into our new stadium, whilst hoping the fair play system will help us...I doubt it will and there will come a point where most sides will have a sugar daddy, plus a 60k stadium.

I don't believe I'm asking for the world, after all the last time we purchased a striker was 3 years ago. Whilst Lennon/VDV disruptive injuries need to be identified, because it affects our balance and rhythm. Townsend can cover the LW, selling Niko and GDS will fund cover for Lennon. Modric transfer fee will easily fund a replacement, as mentioned Dembele would cost half the price, less wages. I'm not a fan of Lloris but we need a new keeper for the future, many believe he's the muts nuts and we'll still have funds left over from the Modric fee. Cesar from Inter Milan could be a goer?

I believe we're capable of being creative during the window to afford a new GK, Modric replacement, winger cover and 2x strikers.

If Arsenal sign those two I will be pissed, would love both to be wearing a Spurs shirt next year

Although to be fair I guess head to head both player would probably choose them over us as they seem to pay a bigger wage and have CL football to offer.

Agree! But according to ITK we don't like Sahin! So he doesn't have the option to choose us because we don't want him! What a joke....

Did JJ ever tell us what he meant with that tweet? I always thought that he was saying AVB didn't like the deal falling through, not that he didn't like Sahin...

Ade was reputeadly on £80k pw at Arsenal - unfortunately Man City more than doubled it to a reputed £175k pw.

Does Ade need £175k pw - no. However he seems to want a lot and seems to find it hard to reduce it (maybe something to do with finding projects in Togo). So we might be getting away with £120k pw (£6m pa) - but its still a lot which is one reason why there is not a lot of competition for his signature. Spurs are probably one of may 20 in europe who could afford him (and he's been to Arsenal, Man City and RM - so the number 20 drops to even less)

Decent young strikers are not that plentiful - having saoid that HR said he turned down Cisse (Freiberg/Newcastle) last year and Ba. I would love to think we have had a shortlist of young strikers available fir AVB to look at - but maybe a month is not long enough for him to assess who is good value and who is not. Personally think Rondon might be aa good option, as well as Fletcher (Wolves) as a second striker, but will AVB ? Think Levy will go with either if the reported price and wages are about accurate.

As I hsave said before 2 strikers, a Modric replacement and maybe one more. If you adjust your expectations now, you might feel even happier if that group arrive !

It was repeatedly confirmed that JJ meant that he didn't like Sahin.

Don't know about anyone else but I'm starting to feel very under whelmed now.
The modric soap opera has lasted longer than eastenders, the adebayor saga has dragged on and on with both showing no signs of reaching a conclusion.

What is it with us why do we take an ice age to sort out deals everyone around us seems to be strengthening while we just wait to see if we can do a cut price deal come 31st August.
This is not a club with any real design on ambition it's just levy bean counting again, we are a couple of weeks away from start of the season yet we have no striker to lead the line and no one to replace modric if he leaves before retirement Age.
I'm now seriously worried a out our chances of a top four again or winning anything when we can't get deals accross the line it's just fucking pissing me off when we know that we should be in for players like moutihnio etc and we will just end up with what we've got or some player that we can purchase for around a tenner and a twix thrown in for good measure.

Still never mind Daniel least you have all the season ticket money now and use more excuses to get loan or out of contract people to sign a bit like the Harry days when each transfer window was the same no money spent and crap brought in.
Oh well avb whatever you were promised levy will let you down that's for sure but you will find him in the boardroom counting the money so good luck Andre.

West Ham's former Icelandic owners had "real design on ambition"...... and thats how they got £100m debt and relagated.

shelfboy68,

You do realise the difference between an 80k week contract and 170k a week works out at around 19mil over 4 years? Not to mention the fact Bale, VDV, etc.. would then demand similar and every future signing would then work from that figure as a marker.
Daniel Levy is doing the best job he can given the clubs stature and finance and perhaps it would be wiser to compare us to clubs of similar finances and be happy with what we are trying to do rather then compare us to the deals Chelsea and City are able to pull off thanks to mega rich owners.

People are entitled to their views but unless I'm proved wrong and I hope I am I can't see us doing anything under the current set up.

Other clubs granted got into debt but none of them have the income that we have the luxury of so we can't we even spend more than £20 million on a player that we not cause us to go under.

It's because we have owners that fuck about in the transfer market and try to squeeze every last pound out just utter nonsense, maybe that's why other clubs don't like dealing with us cos it's a long drawn out process.

But if some people on here are happy with the way that we don't do any business then I guess that's fine but I think we stink and we will probably suffer for it.

Sorry to come in and post some injury news but I've been at the open training session in New Jersey today and heres what I've watched.

Bale came out and did 20 mins of running, put his boots on and did some work with himself and the physio. They designed his session around putting weight on his ankle and he seemed fine. Didnt pull up at all and got through ok. I doubt he plays tomorrow but as far as Newcastle goes I'd be very surprised if he couldnt play against them as long as nothing came up with the ankle.

Walker was fine, VDV did a similar routine as Bale did.

Carlo must have something wrong with his shoulder because he barely did anything with the keepers, no diving on playing balls into Gomes/Archer/Brad with his feet.

AVB is a class act, and so were the rest of the lads!
