Morning

Here's today's thread.

I cannot tell you how much i'm looking forward to the 2nd September.

Meanwhile perhaps today is a day for outgoing players? Will we sign someone?

Will the yellow ticker on SSN give everyone the horn by proclaiming we've signed another Moutinho? Or Willian? Only to be left standing there, cock in hand (cockus erectus) with nothing left for it but to bash one out to that mental picture you took of Susan Boyle being backscuttled by a man wearing a Goat mask?

Or will the window fizzle out like a damp squib? No more coming in.

So get whoring, lets have some ITK. Crack into it you slags.

Hope we don't get Wellbeck.

He's an athlete first, Footballer second. And if mufc are willing to let him go whilst they are desperate for players then he's not good enough for our talented squad.

I don't see where he improves us at all, he's not a striker and he's not a midfielder. Next please.

One thing is for certain, at some point we really need to learn how to spell all these abbreviated players names :D.

He's certainly splitting opinion.
Have to say I'm in the pro camp.
He's not a world beater sure but he offers us options. Capable of leading the line in Ade style better than Kane and Soldado. He can hold the ball up well but also prepared to apply a bit more discipline from wide left. Thought he was excellent in that role v Italy in the World Cup. It's an area we are lacking a body given the number of games we'll play so it's a good deal

Didn't Rooney play LWF for eng in that game? I just don't see that he is better than Chadli or Townsend so why waste any money on him.

Right wing then.
Townsend and Chadli aren't as versatile. I'm not saying I'm his biggest fan but I'd certainly prefer him in the side to Townsend given the way we now play

Strongly disagree. People said the exact same thing about Sturridge 18 months ago.

Welbeck's work rate, fitness and positional play (both with & without the ball) coming in from the left are tailor made for Poch's system. His willingness to run beyond the last man and attack from deep is something our team and squad is completely devoid of at this moment in time.

He also has a goal every 162 minutes in the premiership - better than Ade, Jay Rod, Lukaku, Negredo, Hazard etc etc. Great goalscoring record for a 23 year old.

For a transfer to be successful it has to be the case of many things coming off at the same time ie right club, right manager, right time, right system etc etc and if Welbeck came to Spurs I can really see it working!

Agree with that.
Look at siggy with us and with Swansea. Sometimes a player doesn't fit another teams system, doesn't make them a bad player and Welbeck is a good player, versatile, hard working and in the positions we are short in.

If price is right and he is willing to come then I am all for it. However i do believe A&C would like us to keep evaluation of the player in the player thread.

And today's mantra is:

Mustn't sell Soldado...
Mustn't sell Soldado...
Mustn't sell Soldado...
Mustn't sell Soldado...
Mustn't sell Soldado...

Trix on COYS (in relation to MS):

Two solid offers from other clubs than ourselves in for him now(both CL). Still really wants to join up with Poch but they have had no contact with us since last weekend. I think Jjetset is bang on as usual. Unless all the planets align and everyone we are happy to move out go, I'd say this one is gone.

This has come from MS side of things.

Not really bothered by this one anymore, feel we had our chance a few weeks ago and for whatever reason, we blew it. Been a very good window, so far. We have filled some glaring gaps, and we still have time for a couple of surprises.

By the sounds of all the ITK and statements from MS himself, it seems that the Saints shafted us on this. The £26m (approx.) price tag is probably too high for us in the real world.
