wearing a hat?

AVB has a bit of a history himself when it comes to player relations, not sure how he gets a free pass from the Ade situation.

AvB does have history himself, not giving him a free pass at all, but your missing out chunks of the story, go look it up it's been gone into enough on here.

I can understand why Adebayor might get moved on if Pochettino doesn't fancy having to tippy toe round his royal Togalise highness, just as long as we don't think Remy's the replacement.

I was thinking Remy to play in the left sided slot. Bony/Lukaku would be obvious targets to replace Adebayor, no?

If Adebayor can have a good season (and is willing to take the pay cut the press seem to be hinting he will); Soldado and Lamela come out with the form that made us buy them and Ericsson carries on how he was last season, there is no need to buy upfront and we can concentrate on defence.
That's a damn big IF though!
I'd hope that the Poch/Baldini scouting plan is looking at strikers as well - if there is someone out there we can bring in to replace one of them (or complement them) then that's great. I think between Chiriches, Vertonghen, Rose (tin hat on for backlash) at the form he had at the start of last season and Walker, there is a decent back 4 - we can't afford to get caught out with injuries though as we were this season: if they played together week-in, week-out, there is a good set of players there. Cover needed but also (as we've lacked in the last few seasons), a pre-season with a manager in place from the start and a stable squad... Now that could be useful!

I've seen us linked to 2 Belgian lads, bith of whom I might like. But its up to Poch to bring in one or possibly both (if that is hios plan) before selling Adebayor.

If he cannot find and buy a decent strikinmg alternative, his alternative is to manage Adebayor like HR and TS have done.

IMO its down to Poch to look at both alternatives..

I think Poch, "the sheriff", being a disciplinarian means it's a case of Ade behaving or he's out.

I would get rid of Ade in a heart beat there's only so long you can flog a dead horse. Are we going to discover anything new with him if we keep him it will be the same story all over again.

Chadli scored 19 goals playing as an auxiliary/left forward the season before he came to us. Honestly, if you played him as many games as Remy in a season I reckon he'd contribute at least as much.

Remy's just a tall Defoe. He's never scored more than 15 in a season and rarely done that, and assists no more than a couple a season. His contribution to gameplay is minimal, and he misses a chunk of games every year with injuries.

There's a reason he ended up at a wankstop like QPR, and then a Newcastle loan with a shitty 8m buy out.

Even if he ends up top scorer in Brasil, I still don't want him.

Seeing as Hamstrings seem to be his favourite injury i don't think he would last long in the high intensity pressing game either. Like you, i would rather we gave Chadli a chance to shine in a proper system.

And I don't want Ba, Bony or Benteke either.

If we get our football right, Soldado will score goals. We need to make chances in the box, if we do that, I'd rather he was the one in there getting them than any of those battering rams.

Christ, we've seen how hard it's been in recent times in shifting squad members so I very much doubt we'll have teams beating down our door wanting Adebayor on a permanent deal that represents good value to Levy.

Wouldn't be surprised if leaves on loan late on in August.

As I understand it LLM used to ber a Spurs youngsters coach or some other similoat post (and hence picked up useful ITK), but that changed maybe 18 months/2 years ago and it was then his info sources were not so good (and/or could not stand up to SC verification requests) so he lost his ITK status

He was only on here from last summer though and from the start ignored the mods requests to verify his sources.

Rob has already said as well that what he was saying on here didn't make sense in a lot of cases.

I would have thought that in the manner that players are put through the books (believe there is a specific word for it beginging with A,), that we could sell Ade for anything and be making a profit.

edit: i think the word was amortization

Thought he was on here before last summer ? If not, think his info was being copied across from other sites. But we're agreed that about a year ago the mods couldn't verify hios sources and his info not allowed as ITK.

Harsh on Bony there BC, he just had a 26 goal season, tidy finisher, more than just a battering ram.

The first couple of games you could visibly see Soldado making those canny runs, dropping deep when necessary and exploring the channels to create space for others to operate in.

Pity that he quickly realised that the rest of the team weren't on his wavelength and once the service dried up, so did his confidence in front of goal, snatching at chances he would normally take with aplomb.

I'm more than hopeful Pochettino can rejuvenate his mojo but I really wouldn't bet against us parting ways this summer if Atletico make us an offer we can't refuse.

Think it's quite easy to see how we will have more "outs than ins" when you consider how much deadweight we have (we always do). Livermore, BAE, Dawson and/or Kaboul, Naughton, Rose, Sigurdsson (although I wouldn't call him deadweight) and possibly Lennon, Adebayor, Soldado (Dumb) and one of our midfielders from last year. That's a shit-ton of potential sales, and obviously all of those won't happen as it'd ravage our depth, but you can make a strong case for just about any of those players.

Our problem has always been about balance, when i saw Grey Fox's update that the balance of the squad was going to be addressed it was like Moses parting the sea, at bloody last.

Adebayor to be replaced by Kane would make sense, if we were to bring in someone like Remy who would cover the left sided role and of course could play through the middle.

Soldado, Remy and Kane would be a nice trio.

Couple issues i would have with a Soldado/Remy/Kane trio.....Kane is still very inexperienced, looks to have the talent but he is 20 and has barely been in the PL how will he truly react if he struggles or if he is expected to carry the load at some point, we just don't truly know what we would get.

Soldado, i really like Bobby...but we need someone who is proven to be reliable at banging in goals in the PL in case he never recovers his form from Spain (i think he will personally but hope for the best and prepare for the worst and all that).

Remy. Good player, pacey, can play the wing, proven to score goals in the PL. Seems like a guy that could fill that "PL proven scorer" to have on hand with Soldado....but Remy also has a tendency to pick up injuries. Seemingly like all pace reliant players he seems prone to pulls and strains that put him down.

I wouldn't necessarily be upset with a Soldado/Remy/Kane trio....i would just like someone a bit more durable (would also like a bit more of a physical presence if available) than Remy if at all possible.

Kane will prove a useful squad member next season but if he's starting more games than not then we are probably in a bit of bother up front.
