Last summer we spent 30M on Sissoko, 17.5M on Janssen, 12M on Wanyama and 9M on GKN. In what world do we shop in pound land? You'd do well to remember where our club was 10, 20, 30 years ago.

Not taking into account the relative success or failure of these four signings from last summer, it's really frustrating to watch our own fans perpetuate negative and no longer true stereotypes about our club. Would love to have gotten your reaction to the Nelsen and Saha window.

Take a look at the stadium financing news we just released and tell me how we're doing anything in pound land these days? If anything, given how we compare financially to the rest of the clubs around us, we're spending decently well taking that and the stadium investment into account.
Double winner rating and a free goose my granny pass for this post

However did we finish second ?

Yeah...we're shit aren't we.
These kinds of comments are so defeatist in a roundabout way. This sport is about margins, and IMO, it is ONLY those transfers that failed over the last seasons that collectively is the reason for why we haven't won a trophy yet. The money, the time spent, the uselessness of some signings ... it's an marginal error, but it has cost us dearly.

Every team has transfers that don't work out. Our financial limitations require us to take 'punts' which mean by definition some signings won't always work out. But we're bloody good at the transfer game if you compare us to nearly every other club in the league. We just don't get it right 100% of the time, which is totally unrealistic to expect anyway.

Sissoko instead of mane, nkoudou instead of zaha, janssen instead of batshuayi! I stick by what I said! This summer will be the same.

Yeah, Batshuayi has really set the league on fire, hasn't he. Mané is the only real loss of those three.

There are going to be transfer mistakes all the top clubs have done it. I agree with what your getting at but feel as a club we are on the verge of going to the next level. Along that ride we have done so in the correct way. What was said today is massive for us and I hope the players wishing to fill there greedy little pockets who have no loyalty think again about moving on from the mighty Spurs. Because big things and greatness are just round the corner for our wonderful Tottenham Hotspur F.c, and all the other big boys know that. But we need to start winning silver now massively COYS

I swear you've got some perverse accounting job inside the club.

But what exactly are these "financial limitations", Justin? We're among the top 10 richest clubs in the world, with a billionaire owner, playing in a league awash with money (to the extent that relegation-fodder clubs like Palace and West Ham can pay their best players in excess of £100 grand a week), undertaking a multi-million-pound-no-expense-spared redevelopment of the Lane. Saying we can't afford our top targets like Mané or Batshuayi, smacks a little bit like the Tory spin about being unable to afford investment in social care or schools or the NHS whilst finding billions to spend on Trident. Austerity is a choice, my friend! Levy has been brilliant at not cutting corners when it comes to the new stadium, and I for one would love to see him apply the same rational to player recruitment and wages.
