The talk (again!) is that everything is agreed with GLC now. It is now about us fitting all the moving parts, as other potential signings (Sess) involved, along with BF & CE.
This is both encouraging and, potentially, slightly worrying. The implication is that we might not pull the trigger on the Le Celso deal unless we have fitted 'all the moving parts'. I hope that this isn't the correct interpretation, and that Le Celso is signed independently of what else might happen.

Whichever it is, my gratitude to Hercules for posting it and to the other ITKs (and ITK whores) for all of the info.

I imagine GLC is done regardless of Eriksen situation and the moving parts are mainly Eriksen our and Bruno in. And there may be some wiggling needed with initial fee payments on each of the deals to balance them all out to our liking.

It’s a bit rich patronisingly saying people trivialise £100m after the club made record profits and hasn’t spent a penny in a year and a half (until Ndombele). I’m not worried about the team or anything, but Poch deserves more.
The fans deserve more too. After last summers quiescence in the market the atmosphere was poisonous.

I hope we do the business we need, but if we sign Sessegnon and sell Eriksen to Utd, our transfer business will impact the club negatively both on and off the pitch

Haven't posted in a while and will not specifically address this to anyone.

A little perspective though would be refreshing. At the beginning of the window, we were hearing Ndombele, LoCelso and Sessegnon. We have already signed one. Looks to have huge upside potential. The other two have just returned from their breaks and Sessegnon was/is nursing an injury. Both deals may already be done or may be close to done. Who knows. There is now added talk of Bruno Fernandez, so that is something else that may happen. Clarke, Etete and Solberg have been signed for the future. Clarke looks already to be pushing on. We have also seen some assured performances from Skipp, Tanganga, Parrott which all suggest we have more quality coverage than we thought. Also, we all know Daniel Levy is not beyond doing a deadline deal (Bale?, Dybala?)

So it is not all glum. If we make no further additions, I don't think we will have bettered the squad from last year although Ndombele may prove far more incisive than Dembele. That said, I don't see where we are worse off. Yes, Trippier is gone, but then he was not exactly one the fans seemed to want around. He himself admits last year was not stellar. I don't think he is quick enough or aware enough to cover his position when there are only two CB's.

Rose, Alderweirald and Eriksen may all go. Have the others teams really improved? United (who can pay double in salary what we can - supposedly offering Eriksen 290k/week) have added Maguire, Wan Bissaka and James. Surely that helps, but how much? City have added Rodri. Chelsea have brought in Pulisic and Kovacic. Did Kovacic make a difference last year? Another new Manager and no Hazard. Arsenal are spending lots. Would we take Pepe? And for 72M? I don't think so. What of a Ceballos loan? Are they going to play him instead of Mikhtarian or others when they do not even have an option to buy? How do either help their defence? If we play to our current potential, I believe we still are in the top 4. The question then becomes, can we stay healthy enough and have enough options to compete to win in 4 competitions? Last year, health was not on our side. Beyond fatigue, we rarely saw Dembele, Kane was out twice, Son on incessant international duty. 58 competitive games and we only had 7 that managed more than 40 appearances. Man City had 12, Liverpool 11, Chelsea 12, United 7 and Arsenal only had 5 but had a further 8 who made 35 plus appearances. Our XI was chopped and changed all year long. Not for tactical reasons but to accommodate those who could not play.

If money guaranteed success, Fulham would not have gone down.

I am confident Levy will do his job, Poch will do his and the lads will be better than last year. Team, by and large, is still young and the key young components are all signed well in to the 2020's. There is a lot to look forward to

This all day long.

When all are fit, and we are looking better in this respect and with proper pre season in place -
1. we have a midfield of Winks, Ndombele, Sissoko, Dier, Skipp to choose from for 3 starting spots
2. we have Lamela, Dele, Eriksen or GLC or BF for the one AM spot
3. we have Sonny Lucas GKN (if not sold) and by all accounts, Sessegnon for the WF positions (one which we usually only play 1, unless chasing a game or due to injuries)
4. we have Kane, now Troy for the ST position but Sonny Lucas Coco all played here before and we can still recall Llorente
5. Foyth injury is a bummer but reckon Aurier KWP Dier all can cover until end Sept

Hence it’s really not all that gloomy, and if as per pre transfer window expectations, we sign TnD n Sess n one of GLC / BF, we will think it’s a positive window.

I see coco stepping up massively I do, esp w how we have set up in pre season and how he has played and lean and mean he looked.

If Eriksen leaves, then one more signing needed. Even then, not at all undoable in 2 days.

Still confident.

Gonna get myself banned. Been to every match at WHL and Wembley (except 5) since 1980. I know very well when the team is not playing well and we are struggling. I am desperate for new signings as much as all others on here, but ffs get a perspective. I am totally convinced that if Poch thought he could not achieve better things than he has done already or if there is something holding him back then he would be off.

Hopefully the ITK (protecting my own nads!), about GLC will move towards that.

Sorry but this team played well below par last season for its potential and needed fresh impetus, the best manager here in years said so and I do think some of the football was very poor. I'm concerned for what happens a year from now on.

Congrats on your home record, it's admirable.

If we lose Eriksen that's not enough.
Agree. It’s one thing to buy another versatile, skilful midfielder to bolster our midfield, it’s another if that midfielder replaces one of our most influential players in the last five years. That’s not bolstering, that’s simply replacing

That top 4 place you’re celebrating only happened because Arsenal lost 3 of their last 5 games (as did we).

One more victory for them and we’d be playing Europa. Our final league placing was literally in Arsenal’s hands ffs.

Given the way we’d played in the previous seasons, it’s not “entitled” to see that kind of capitulation as completely unacceptable.

“Completely unacceptable”?

What are you doing? Writing a school report? Have a word with yourself. It’s football. We went on a bad run.

‘Luckily’ over the season we were the 4th best team.

Brilliant post. I am in total agreement.

But it’s just this forum is split with half empty and glass half full people.

Reading comments like last year was “completely unacceptable” just “Levy must go” are just incredible to me. It makes me cringe to witness what a large portion of our fan base have become.

Really refreshing to read your level-headed post.

Liverpool got to a champions league final and lost. They went and addressed their areas of weakness and kept the team together. We did the same and some are happy treading water. This should have been the summer we finally acted like a big club

Can we save the wrist wringing until after the window has closed please. Nobody really wants to read about how we've fucked the window up until then.
