Very true, doubt there'd be anything to stop them doing the deal that way as the lower fees could be argued, its also something you could see Levy offering.

I think if it did happen the deals would be seperate and undisclosed. Utd would probably want some form of add ons.

Could imagine Levy and Woodward swapping the contracts in a car park somewhere flanked by bodyguards.
Think you’re all forgetting it’s not the fee alone that would be the stumbling here... how much you reckon Martial is on at Utd? There’s the deal killer right there, we won’t go anywhere near the wages he’s on or even a slightly lesser amount, it’s never going to happen.

Think he's on something like £65k a week.

Edit - £75k a week.

Except Martial is on 90k a week, wages which we are more than capable of topping.

He's on £75,000. We can easily pay him in excess of £100k.

Probably on my own put levy has the power, utd need toby more than we need martial, both players if not sold would sit on bench! Imapcts utd more than us! If we want martial he will come is my opinion

Would be financial suicide on our part. Losing out on 25m to then pay him to hardly play for a season and then leave for the same club next year. Madness

As we enter the last week, what would be the roundup from all the ITK thus far? United still saying no on Martial. Zaha likely dead. Grealish is still a possibility. Ceballos has been looked at, but nothing beyond that. With Toby, Rose, Dembele, Janssen, and maybe Edwards in the shop window? And something about 1 in, 1 out.

Obviously (maybe?) we have to have more targets than that, right?

Why would we lose £25m? His release clause is next year, we didnt pay £25m for him so its only opportunity money! And my point wasn’t about money, it was that I believe utds need for toby is greater than our need for martial

We couldn't get Jadon Sancho as part exchange for Walker last year so I really don't know what makes anyone think anything other than the above is going to be the outcome.
It’s a damning indictment of Levy and where we are going if we’re always prepared to do whatever it takes to sell but not to buy.
