Wouldn’t it be sensible to see the new TV deal before agreeing any more contracts. Saw Amazon May throw hat in ring, if that happens it could go crazy. They could up the money by 30%. With rough calculations that would be an extra £40m a season.

I think everyone does to be honest. I don't know much about Steven but yes, he is his twin. Literally. Left footed left back/left mid. Both are also the cousins of Stephane Sessegnon, played for West Brom and Sunderland.
Steven Sessegnon is a right footed RB, who no doubt has versatility but that is definitely his main position. I would go on to say I don't think we need him as we have KWP and Hinds but if he is needed to bring in Ryan then so be it I guess

Also I'm pretty sure they're not related to Stephane where did you hear that?

Think Toby also said at one point that he wants to ‘finish his career back home’. Not sure whether he means Belgium or Holland though.

Pochettino talks about Barkley in his book and how he showed a lack of respect when he celebrated his goal before scoring against Bournemouth in Feb 2017. He speaks in depth about the importance of what players are like as people (their mental attitude) as much as their skills as footballers when considering to sign them. Reading that is at odds with Barkley becoming his number 1 transfer target 6 months later.

I would recommend the book to those who on here who talk about Poch leaving if he is not backed in the transfer market. It is hardly a literary masterpiece but he discusses how big money signings can upset the balance of the team, it is more difficult to leave them on the bench and how academy players bring more desire to win.

It would certainly make for a more informed transfers tread. Imagine that!

I don't know why people keep quoting his book as evidence for anything or truth. Just because Poch says something it doesn't mean it's true.

Like you said he questions Barkley's attitude but then its Poch's no.1 target.
He is worried about how big money signings and then spends 30m on Sissoko who isnt even worth 30m and has him on the bench when Wanyama and Dembele are fit. He also was happy for us to spend however much money on Sanchez.
Then you say he believes the academy players bring more desire to win. Well yes when he first arrived that desire helped save him, yet the fact he has only brought 1 through himself, suggests that desire isn't given him enough incentive to use them. Finally like Hercules s0iad he sin't going to stay regardless. It's like Jesus now has a bible to accompany his stories that people are turning to as evidence.

Just because Poch has had his beliefs written down it doesn't mean any of it is right or truth, he can change his opinion as he has done many times. He even admits in the book that some of his beliefs have changed.

Got the info from transfermarkt. Says left footed left back. So does Soccerway. May be wrong: https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/steven-sessegnon/profil/spieler/406558

Wikipedia says they're cousins of Stephane.

I think they're his cousins.

I've followed and heard about them for the last 2/3 years now and one of the first things I did was check if they were related to Stephane as it's such a rare name and never found anything. No ones ever mentioned it in that time as well, and I just did a search on google of Ryan Sessegnon and Stephane and couldn't find anything.

Where did you hear that. I know tiger said they were his nephews

I'd like to say that I'm enthusiastically anticipating the exciting transfers of both Kouassi Ryan Sessegnon and Zeze Steven Sessegnon, cousins of Sunderland's erstwhile striker Stephane Sessegnon, but sadly I just can't do it.

Bloody lisp.

That reminds me of the brilliant Scooby gif posted in the summer for Ryan Sessegnon

I like the idea of Poch not wanting signings...imagine a bored, transfer drought ridden Levy calling him up saying I can get you such and such...and Poch just laughing or hanging up.

That stadium still costs £700m+. Unless a huge investor comes in that we dont know about, i think we should temper expectations on the players we sign.
We don’t know who ANY of the potential investors are atm.

Did anyone seriously expect any different this window, we haven't signed anyone of note in January for years and we wont this month either....!

Levy was never going to back his manager on a player he could sign for free in 6 months, he clearly gambled and it backfired, I don't believe the Poch didn't want him, sorry not ITK bashing but Poch wanted him IMO.

Re this super signing in the summer, sorry bored of this now.... wasn't the same gonna happen in August transfer window? I assume we will be announcing the new season tickets/stadium costs soon for GA.

I truly do believe Levy has taken us as far as he can financially and he has done wonders but days of signing big players and pushing on when we desperately need reinforcement (now) will not happen under his stewardship.

I know a lot will disagree but this is my opinion and would be delighted to be wrong

Couldn’t agree more, hear the same every summer.

In one of my earlier posts before this window, I stated we would be upping contracts to be on par with top 4 clubs in the summer.
Great to hear Herc.
Without giving anything away is there any top line detail you can share about why that is the case, I think you mentioned before something about the banks agreement meaning we just had to break even until the stadium was functioning and then we could loosen the purse strings slightly but I can’t find your prev post fella.

I just think if you build a new stadium mainly on finance surely you still need it to be up and running and functional for 3-5 years to reap the financial rewards from additional spectator capacity and sponsor and hospitality revenue in which case we wouldn’t be able to upp transfer or wage budget until say 2023 earliest just like Arsenal didn’t for a good 5 years into their new stadium.

That’s just my simple opinion though and
Im sure the clubs finances are much more
Complex than that and if wages and transfers come from a separate pot which is linked to revenue but not effected by the debt then that’s reallt great news and brilliant financial management by the bald one, but great to hear the news all the same and thanks as always for all your snippets, people need to appreciate ITKS, Herc and others!

15-20mil transfer fee 100k per week for 5 years wages plus agents fees etc is well in excess of 40 mil. That's just for Barkley, and if it doesn't work out injury wise we are stuck with that, or at least the bulk of it.
The more I think about this one the more I’m glad we didn’t get him.
He’s not a spring chicken what is he 25? And he’s had SO many prettt serious injuries, that really takes its toll. He is talented and exciting and sure he’d have given us a bit of something we lack but I’ve not seen him really dominate many games, good player but not exceptional. Shame for him he will stay just good under Conte rather than moving to new levels under Poch.

Interesting what Balague tweeted about how he made the wrong choice not signing for spurs.
