Doesn't a formal offer come at the end of negotiations after acceptable offers have been informally agreed? I'm sure when we hear that no offer has been made we get told that nobody makes a formal offer until they are pretty certain they know it will be accepted, give or take a few i's and t's.

A formal bid surely means a lot of the groundwork has been done. Sure we've heard before that bids arent made until we're close on valuation.

I seem to recall mention that he had a fairly reasonable release clause in his contract. I also seem to recall that the clause was specific to certain clubs. (top English clubs, or something?).

That may be complete BS and from some dream I had months ago.

I'm an American, and the idea of our greatest talent joining Spurs makes me downright giddy.

He has mostly been deployed as a winger with Dortmund, but I think his skill set is closest to Dele's. He was asked to track back more and help on defense this past year (which is why some of his numbers are down) and has a high work rate, he can be creative with the dribble and the pass, and is a good finisher. I wouldn't be surprised if Poch's development of Dele at a young age is part of Pulisic's attraction to Spurs. I don't know that he would make the starting XI (though perhaps with Son playing in the Asian Games), but at the very least he provides depth and flexibility in the short term.

I also seem to remember herc mentioning that grealish was an alternative to pulisic, one we'd go for as part of smart budgeting so that we can spend more on a big signing (martial). If we are preparing a bid, does this mean we're no longer in for grealish? Or potentially that the more expensive option we wanted (martial) is no longer feasible?

I washed smegma off my cock that has more intelligence.

Back off, it takes a while to prepare something like this! Computer, printer and fax machine have been unplugged for months. Takes a while for that stuff to reboot. OS loading, software updates...have to change your passwords now because it's been over 90 days...can't use that password....or that one....or that one, you can't use any of your last 10 passwords...must be 10 characters...etc. PC load letter...you're not connected to the network...

Just think there's been an inevitability about Pulisic coming here since we hooked up with Nike and the NFL. Hope "preparing" means we are pretty close to finalising the preliminary talks with all parties

After hearing nothing for days then we get this news- salt n all that- but he would add to the squad and bring great exposure from across the water. Let's make it happen!

It’s a positive step, you only ususally hear about clauses from someone close to the player (agent, business manager etc) so it would suggest that he’s receptive to a move they’re backing him to succeed at Spurs.

I wouldn’t get your dicks too hard just yet, just because we don’t need to google him, doesn’t mean he’s necessarily going to hit the ground running if we do get it over the line.

I'm an American Spurs fan also and I'm increasingly angry when I read the "Pulisic would help sell shirts & help our US exposure". Honestly, you can watch every single Premier League game each week and fans have already picked their teams for the most part but thats not what upsets me so much. What upsets me is Pulisic is a major talent. He would not be some signing that satisfies sponsors or opens up markets, he would be a major addition on the pitch. He is incredibly hard working, has a dash of creativity and spark while dribbling that only Dele, Eriksen & Lucas have on the ball and is direct and aggressive in his attacks going forward. He works hard for the team and doesnt ignore his defensive responsibilities. He would be a great signing for footballing reasons.

He's the one I want for both football and commercial reasons. It makes so much sense on both levels.
