Willian has no chance anyway. Bernard wants to be exposed. To be honest Ronaldinho should have everyone fighting over him but anyway.

If you watch Brazilian football

That is why I am a bit skeptical about Bernard.... his goals are dependent on Ronaldinho. Without the vision of Ronaldinho, I fear he will struggle to make an impact.

Can I hope for Bale and Bernard. Or is that just ridiculously greedy and a bit Citeh of me? :shy:
Only Citeh of you if you want Lamela too. Then it would be very Chel$ea of you to believe they came for the rich football history of west London.

Really? With City splashing more on Fernandinho alone?

Yet

It feels good to hear something like that. It really does.

Or at least buying the top 4..... some had said. At this moment we had spent exactly 50M pounds. Sold 2 for 14M.

I presume we gonna maintain the nett expense this season at 50M while the rest of the acquisition will depend on departure. THe priority now iis to get 2 defenders....... so I guess Bernard will be dateline day type of deal.

I don't know if we want two centerbacks. I guess it would depend on Kaboul but if he is back this year then it's already tough trying to accommodate Vertonghen, Kaboom, Dawson and unspecified. Throw in a 5th and we have potential Caulker level unhappiness with at least one.

We're in a bit of a pickle "right now" but I think we will only get one and use whoever we can until things are better.

I personally hope its Sahko, but have my doubts.

that being said, I was the one arguing like an idiot that it made no logical sense that we would sell Caulker until near September and we all know how bad I looked on that one

It's a pickle.

If Bale stays and we play 4-3-3, then Bernard, playing on the left would arguably be more useful than Lamela this season, seeing as we already have Bale on the right. But then Bale leaves next summer and we've missed the Lamela boat.

Personally, I think 4-2-3-1 might remain the preferred system for a while yet.

The dream scenario would be:

---------- Soldado ----------
Bernard --- Bale --- Lamela

Which is title winning quality, but something we can't afford.

If we sell Bale, however, I'd love to see this:

----------- Soldado -----------
Bernard --- Siggy --- Lamela
------ Sandro --- Paulinho ----
Coentrao - Vert - Kab - Walker
-------------- Lloris --------------

Which is definite top 4 quality and a team which would score so many goals over the course of the season.

We could also sell Lennon, BAE, Gomes, Livermore, Ade, Falque and Parker to fund it and still have 2 players for every position (provided we bring in another CB).

Sorry for going all FM on y'all.

I think AVB will get someone that can operate in 2 position for the CB position. He can then switch the player depending on the injury situation or opponent.

THerefore I think 2 CB and move Naughton .... this will optimise the squad playing time eg getting Alderweireld operates also as RB.

Why has there been so much discussion about Bernard. Yes he's turned down the Tundra, but the only ITK that I can see on him is this from the Journalist:
.....from what I’ve heard Tottenham will go back for the Brazilian kid
That's "will go back for the brazilian kid".......Who MIGHT be Bernard - or MIGHT be Damiao.

I think we might be getting ahead of ourselves.

So I wonder how many of those we might have already.

I will probably get stoned for this, but here goes.......I think Walker showed promise to have this flexibility. I believe Harry used him as a CB in preseason not too many seasons ago. He wasn't perfect, but I remember he was composed and it's an important thing for a CB to have. I was really impressed with how unflappable he was when he played there.

But I will admit this is old opinions and things might have changed.

I don't know about any of our CM's. I wonder if anybody has better knowledge of Sandro or Paulinho and if they could take over in a pinch.

Also maybe Fryers has a chance or Veljkovic is going to be given a chance.

Pretty sure it's Bernard. Interest in Damiao dropped a while ago.

Not going to throw any stones, just a little ball of twine. Walker is imo a liability defensively as he is, would not like to se him with greater responsability as a cb - recipe for disaster...

Rather buy a new one and promote Veljkovic or Hall (loaned out?)
