Not having a go at his info, but I'm sure last year you put a stop to people posting his tweets as he wasn't actually receiving any info anymore. Presumably things have changed because that definitely happened last year
I have no idea. There's another guy out there that I often confused him with or it could have been simply an anti-twitter thing, the more you allow the more you get. Whatever, my memory is so bad sometimes that I go the the bog and stand there wondering what I went in there for. Not that it matters now, he's here and hopefully to stay.

Can yesterdays info go in the RO section? There was the info from Gards, the info about the shirt being printed and the bit about an announcement on Monday.

I was one of the people that started this forum way back in January 2016 after I visited Spurs Lodge and sat down with Martin Jol to go through a list of players we were linked with. I used to keep a list of ITK tips for several years afterwards. Then I totted up the number of people claiming to be 'ITK'. The total was 63. That's 63 different people claiming to have inside knowledge of what was going on with THFC transfers. It was around that time that my interest waned noticeably.

I see these days that number has dwindled considerably, but it still seems to me that the club has more leaks than the White House!

You find them and i'll post them.

Providing the shirt/announcement stuff was from a 'proper' ITK and not a 'my mate' gig.

It's worth remembering that the only stuff that generally goes into the Read Only is from 'accredited' ITK's. It's also worth repeating that 'random' ITK, you know, the 'my mate' stuff, shouldn't really be treated as ITK and should certainly have more than the usual dose of salt applied. For some reason it gets the gospel treatment in here.

And finally, for the thousandth time anyone can submit ITK to the Read only, (not everything submitted gets approved for a variety of reasons) once done there will be a short wait for it to be approved before it goes 'live', so if you want the RO to be current, its in all your hands too.

Ali Z's info, if proved correct, means this window is (again) piss poor. Not being able to compete financially because of the stadium is one thing, but if we knew that then why haven't we planned appropriately?

Ali z in the COYS jUve match thread: don't worry we will buy but as cheap as he can and late. not great planning

A poster then says: great, so we'll buy rubbish

Ali z: Not rubbish but not are first choices and a few gambles.

This notion, also propagated by some on this forum, that quality players will somehow be cheaper towards the latter part of the window, is no longer true. Teams within the Premier League, especially, are loathe to sell quality for knock down prices. We've seen this with a relegated Newcastle side demanding a massive fee for Sissoko. We've seen it with West Brom refusing to sell Berahino on our terms. We've seen other top clubs like Chelsea (David Luiz and Marcos Alonso) and Arsenal (Shodkran Mustafi) pay large deadline day fees for players they needed to plug holes in their squad.

Unless it's a pure release clause deal like Dembele or Son were, a loan deal for a surplus player on a big wage (we rarely go for those), or we are dealing with a wantaway younger player from abroad on a contract running down, we're going to find signing players difficult if we wait until the last few days of the window. I don't think Everton will sell Barkley, nor will Bournemouth sell King, on Levy's terms at the end of the window.

Our smartest strategy would be to focus on players with release clauses and contracts running down abroad. Pereira, Seri and Keita Balde are all going to be on the move and can collectively be had for fees that match what we've sold others for this summer. Their wage demands will be within our structure. If we signed those three players, we'd be an excellent shape moving forward.

On the back of what A&C has said, some of the ITKs who have posted recently have specifically asked for their stuff not to go on the RO.

A s you say, a discussion for when the window has closed and we know the nature of our angst. There's little point in it right now, everything could change in a week.

Levy has long specialised in last-minute deals, most of which have not worked out. If he signs a player on Aug 31 he saves two months' salary, since player contracts usually start on July 1. Here are some of the (very) few deals that were done early, in April or May: Bale, Berbatov, Modric. Here are some that were done on or around August 31: Rasiak, F Campbell (loan to replace Berbatov!), Sissoko, Jenas. Even the last-minute signings of good players - van der Vaart, Scott Parker, HM Son (28 Aug) - means they miss pre-season and we have to wait from them to integrate into the squad.

I'm sure that others can think of exceptions, but the usual way of doing business does not do the manager any favours. He's even given last-minute dross or no time to work with the player as the season is already underway.

While ahem, "some lessons have been learned"....levy does have deadline day failed bids for the likes of Kevin Doyle and Michael ricketts. Those days feel more typical than vdv. What worries me is deadline day doesn't mean good things come to he who waits, more like scraps left on the table

It would have made more sense to keep walker and sell Janssen, getting what we could - and then spend the £45m from total player sales on one outstanding performer. I know, I know... wages wages wages...

Re Ali Z's info - an awful lot rests on who our first choice signings were. If they were Top quality level then second choice could still be exciting. If they're about the level we usually go for, I look forward to seeing Carlton Cole holding up the shirt on transfer deadline day

Been out all day and just read the thread... Ali Z's info appears to have trashed the optimism that was about yesterday. Hope Gards being questioned doesn't drive him away as he is a top bloke and as genuine as they get. Personally am pretty confident this window will be looked back on more positively than some.

Ali's info is a bit concerning. As much as they did a job for us I really don't want another Saha/Nelsen response to pushing on this year.

Likely reaching here, but Poch seemed confident in getting a RB in regardless of Trippier's injury. Maybe that's whose shirt is printed, hence the confidence. Then again, Poch isn't going to start pulling his hair out in a press conference.

I still can't be believe that anyone at the club honestly believes that leaving it late for teams to sell their best players, for lower prices and with less time to replace them, is the way to go.

We generally cherry pick our players from those lesser clubs who obviously want to hold onto their best players, and leaving them with little or no time to replace them is ridiculous idea.

You may once in a while get lucky, as we did with VDV in that a mega club has an asset they need to get off the payroll etc but how often have even looked like completing a deal like that since?

If I were a chairman of any PL club I'd pull the ladder up on all outgoings by the time the season starts (if possible of course). We unfortunately aren't in the situation where we can bully those teams in terms of wage demands either so it's not as if we can unsettle a star player on deadline day by offering to double his wages.

Leaves us scrambling at the end of the window with teams refusing to sell or inflating prices drastically as they know we are desperate.

Proper knee jerk post I'm sure but this whole 'strategy' just takes the piss. It would be much better to get our signings done modric style and in April/May

Doubt Poch would accept a Saha / Nelson response. We finished second in the league last season and a week before the new season starts we have so far only weakened our squad. But fear not we have £50 million in the bank to show for the weakening!

Some great lines from some chairman-wannabes in here.

Ha. The "I'd do it this way" mob. Not a clue between you of what it takes to run an international multi-million pound business.
