£20k a week for a first team squad member is not really big £ for a top 6 club, it's about the going rate.....

Seems fairly generous for a kid who's only played two senior games. I guess that indicates either how highly he is rated, or the size of his ego. As this is Levy we're talking about, I'd stake on the former.

Looking at Spurs with Caulker(20), Walker(22), Siggurdsson(22), Bale(22), and Sandro(23) and with the potential signings of Fryers(19) and Oscar(20) plus some of our own youth coming through - Luongo (19), Kane (19), Pritchard (19) etc - and the likes of Vertongehen who is only 25, Naughton (23) etc we could start to be set up for the next decade !

Maybe its the manifestation of Levy's dream of having 'young players with a high sell on value' - not that he wants to sell but if we need to, we do not lose from it

No Walcott to Spurs????....thank god.

Naughton looked great for Norwich last season...to think we're gonna have a player like that, ready to come in at RB, if Walker isn't available for selection is sooooo cool. Loving the way our squad is coming together!! I haven't heard this since the Jol era...and I haven't really believed it...but now I do.....so I'm gonna say it......

Yes...will need some older heads around them though....VDV, Parker and others will be vital. We still need a stronger mentality and although the coach can help instill that he'll need help from his senior pros....(not the Rooney type you understand)...

Sure - but having the next generation iin place could be one hell oif a coup.

'You can never win anything with kids' - wonder where I heard this before ? But with some players getting toi their peak to hellp them (eg Kaboul) and a few older players (eg Parker) its going to be a good mixture in the squad.

add Oscar (20) and maybe Damiao (22) and we've got just about a full team of youngsters, and theyd be damn good too
i really like what we got going on

Agreed. Getting the mix right is important because the senior, more experienced players will show the way to the youngsters and help them improve their game and mental approach. I honestly think having the right mental approach is the most undervalued aspect in sport and we've suffered from it plenty in recent years. Ferguson and his captain Keane are/were relentless in their desire to succeed. Without it they wouldn't have become what they did I think.

Oscar or Damiao - doubt if Internacional would sell both in one TW, so given we have been turned down so often on Damiao, I put Oscar in my list as a potential. ;)

Yes. He said a bid went in I think. Others elsewhere are saying more it seems but doesn't sound close...

Well I saw that one.....but someone a few pages back had said POTL referred to it as well as "closing in" but nothing is mentioned like that in the rO.

the fact that your username 'since57' implies that your most likely a fully grown man, middle aged even, with a car, a job, a house, all of those things.
the fact that you decide that the best, most productive and entertaining way of spending a sunny, thursday evening is to scrutinize people's spelling on an internet football forum where nobody actually cares about correct grammar quite frankly says more about your level of intelligence than it does of the original poster.
You know what mate, SS57 can be a grumpy fucker, and I've disagreed with him on occasion, but he's probably contributed more to this forum than you ever will. Plus, the points he made about you getting La Liga positions hopelessly wrong and your indulging in guessing games about possible targets are valid. So how about you wind your neck in?

akqayid has said we're further along with oscar than papers lead us to lead us to believe. take that as you will.
