I've tried to be patient all Summer but it's getting a bit frustrating. If we drop points in the first few games because we don't make any signings until deadline day and this costs us CL football then what's the point? The money saved leaving it late certainly won't cover the cost of not making top 4. We all know it's probably going to be a lot harder to get top 4 this season, it's pretty feasible there will be only a few points in it.

Going into the new season we have 1 fit full back. That's unacceptable if you're Huddersfield never mind a team trying to challenge for the title. I'll never stop loving Spurs but if we ever lose Poch because of stuff like this I would lose a lot of faith in the club.
How can you determine if dropped points are down to not signing someone?
What if we signed a world class player and he dropped a bollock and cost us a win?

Apart from walker we still have the same team that got us 2nd last year. I can understand the disappointment in not having a new player or 2 by now, but its not all doom and gloom. Key injuries have not helped matters though.

Levy is one smart cookie, I dont blame him for holding off while all other clubs are spending way over the values of players. Just got to have faith in the bald guy and poch.

I'm sorry but the teams around us are all generally stronger whilst we have weakened our squad. We came a few points above City last year who have directly strengthened at our expense and then some. We might not be able to compete with them in the transfer market but to your point about keeping the team together - guys like Danny Rose were earlier in the summer talking about a desire to see us compete to an extent in the market - we are showing the guys within our squad who have ambition how limited ours is at present

Best be getting the moaning in now before we turn over Newcastle and beat a depleted Chelsea in the next couple of weeks before making our signings.

Were all kidding ourselves, you can dress it up anyway ya wanna, but its a fucking joke that the season kicks off on Saturday and were worse off than we were last season.
Pathetic, but the same old story, we qualify for the champions league and then get battered coz we havnt got a squad, infuriating, but hey, what can we do.
Even if we do sign a few players from now until the end of the window its still not good enough, Poch never throws players straight in. he likes to ease them in, he must be fuming.

There's no point frantically pressing f5 in the hope of a signing because someone said it'll happen today. We've been told to expect a signing imminently since the middle of July and nowt has happened. ITK is fun but don't forget your salt.

Players should be signed in time for pre season so they can gel with the rest of the squad, NOT left until 31st August

Why is it when people get carried away guessing names of players ITK may or may not be talking about it gets squashed after 10 minutes but we can have 15 pages of people arguing about how this season is going to be a disaster? The only tiny piece of ITK today was about us still going for our original targets and it takes up 1 maybe 2 pages of this thread

We could sign players and still drop points. Kane can get injured and miss 10 games . It can all happen .
The other teams needed to spend that much to raise their game to our level. All the money being thrown around on players is ridiculous and it does not guarantee success .
So we may not have a right back replaced for a few games, it's a long season!
Have faith....

Yeah this is pretty much right.

It's always going to be the case that when we're financially the worst off of the top 6, but with arguably the strongest first 11, signing players to genuinely improve us is an absolutely huge ask. But to start the season weaker than last season, when the others are all, without exception, stronger than last season, is a poor show.

We can still save the window, but it's been a shitshow so far. In my view, Barkley, a decent right back, and another attacking player with genuine potential is pretty much bare minimum. Anything less and it's a shit window.

The ITKs have a done a great job of filling us in, though, so gratitude is due to them.

Have faith? In what? Lady luck? To cope with these injuries...and they are not just potential injuries, they are noticeable holes in our first team...we need a bigger squad with more quality. It cost us last season and it's going to cost us again. This penny pinching is pathetic in the current climate. It's a game to the chairman and one that can never benefit the club's footballing ambitions.

Anyone worried about lack of ambition, stick sky sports on now. They're showing Spurs v Arsenal from 2004 (again) - our team contained; Keller, Kelly, Gardner, Taricco, Brown, Redknapp and Jackson. We drew 2-2 but could have lost by six or seven.

Sit safe in the knowledge we will never be that shit again!

So cause we had a shit team in 2004 we don't have any right complaining about current transfer dealings :O ? But I agree we certainly have made huge leaps forward the last decade (y)

Maybe, but you don't get better by standing still. The fact is we've got in something like 80M from the end of the season & if you assume we have a transfer budget, then we should have around 100M sitting there to be used, unless we really are putting it into the stadium, something Levy continually denies. What have we spent zilch & we don't look like doing so anytime soon.

We may well bring in a few players before the TW closes, but the longer we take the more likely they be players like Fazio & Stambouli.
