Just spoke to my mate and I'm afraid there is very little to tell. Nothing has changed! We are still looking to get 3 in. Barkley still wants to come, and the only way anyone is leaving is with the managers consent. Something he did say though was that he was told we are still going after the same players we were from the start. So by that I took it as, they were top of the list players, and we haven't had to move on after not getting a preffered target.
Thanks. Two interpretations of that though. You could be optimistic and say that we still have a chance at top targets. Alternatively (and probably more realistically given our track record), you could say that we aren't leaving any time to get backup options so we could get another wonderful Sissoko move.

Top targets from what I see is Barkley, Pereira & Lemar.

JJ has alluded that Lemar is going to Arsenal. If we can get Barkley & Pereira that in itself would improve our squad.

I'd be happy with those additions and anything else would be a bonus.

Slightly annoying that the deal (if it is indeed on the cards) for Pereira hasn't been done sooner based on his release clause. There must be reasons I'm sure.

Besides, what would I know? I don't run an international multi-million pound business.

JJ has suggested he's fairly confident we get an Italian based player so this might be the Lemar back up option

That sounds like excellent news that our targets remain as they were good positive stuff let's hope they come in asap.

There was a time when being a London team, playing home games at Wembley and being in the champions league would basically get you any player...Sigh!

Unfortunately our first targets might have 2 or 3 choices paying more money. Hence no deals going through yet

Would they take us to title? I hope we get linked a "title decider"

Need of the hour is a RB. I hope our club management sees some sense & prioritise RB signing in next few days

The thing is though, going after players involves making serious bids and we clearly leave that to late on in the window a lot of the time.

I.understand why we do it but saying we havn't had to move on to other targets yet, is that not a bit premature? Respectfully of course

Levy would likely still try to negotiate down from the release clause.
Errrr yes. Isn't that the point? The release clause tends to be set at a higher than realistic price. Also I'm not sure they're legal for the EPL buying players, although I may be wrong. Sorry A&C, hand it out, although I will promise not to do it again, for today at least - I'll leave it to some others.

True but we have to trust levy on this as to be fair this is made for him it's what he does best.
If we get all of the targets as suggested then it would go down as one of our best windows so here goes.

Stick Sissoko as RB and use funds on that decent attacking option ITK is linking us to!
its likely Sissoko played his socks off as he was in the shop window...there is nothing to say he's change his attitude, that said if he played the weekend and well...than maybe we just got a player

I don't have an explanation as to why, I'm only passing on what I have heard.

My bet is that the following is what happens:

DL: Alright Rybolovlev, we want the boy Lemar, what say you to 10m english pounds.
Ry: £45m or no deal

(Later that day)

Poch: Ok well if we can't get Thomas I have other players who would suit my system, I would like to do this before pre-season to give the player time to adapt.
DL: chill, we got this.

(Deadline day)

DL: Alright Rybolovev, £8m.
Ry: (hangs up)
DL: Sorry Mauricio we tried our hardest but we couldn't get this over the line.

(Next window)

ITK: Lessons have been learned....

The problem with waiting for the end - it leaves us taking players other teams no longer want. We don't leave teams enough time to find replacements for "quality" players - so by leaving it late, the only thing we get are the players other teams want gone...
