I don’t pretend to know about player negotiations etc but I’m guessing deals are complicated & talks lengthy. I wonder how long it will take Levy to come to terms that clubs these days (bar the likes of Villa) don’t need to sell & brinkmanship won’t work with the clubs we want to buy players from. We need to be looking at establish top drawer players to push us on & these players play for big teams where unfortunately high fees must be paid...we expect it when we sell our players.

Pulisic is so complex and contradictory, it is unbelievable. Not referrencing goat or ITK’s. There is a clause in his contract. From what I am hearing, from those very close. We were of the opinion (like Martial) there is/was a possible opportunity, based upon his contract. It seems only BVD & Pulisic’s lawyers know the details. And his agents and family have ‘possibly’ s different take on it. If! They are hokfiyout for c.70m, we have then from the the races.

We are speaking to Barrios and Plea’s people right now. And N’D, we are keen. I eoujd love these both to drop off different reasons. The former is his naff injury record.

Can see why you got frustrated in the Barrios thread earlier. Whilst Barrios, Plea and especially Grealish would most likely be very solid signings, it really doesn't seem like the sea change in quality we were hoping for. In fact you could argue we'd be in the market for these kind of player's in before Poch took us up a level. Does seem a bit like false promises again (from the club not you). Taking a cheap/lesser option in one or maybe two areas is understandable if we make a huge signing or two elsewhere, but currently it seems like we have the plan C's lined up across the board!

We are fortunate to have some of the quality we already have a the club, that most teams in Europe would want, but we really need to build on that while we can IMHO.

Hopefully Plea and Barrios are backup options we are keeping sweet for now, especially the former.

Not suprised by pulisic price cold sweats
Our record signing is 42 million, I think as a club at the moment we might stretch to 50/ 55 million...maybe 60 at a extreme push for one player.

Ultimately that Rules out alot of fancy names we get linked with.

Think folks should make peace with our signings being more potential buys and bargains, N'dembele, greleash, Barrios, plea and maybe a last second 50 mill bid for zaha.

That's our way, new stadium makes matters worse in the short term. Everything else is just season ticket propaganda

It is being suggested we will break our club transfer record on a player. I await to see that materialise. I remain optimistic-just.

So, in summary, Harry Kane could be coming home from Russia, with the golden boot and a world cup winners medal, to find we've signed an attacker with a injury record similar to Wilshire, grealish, a 22 year old who was his team's best performer in a season they remained in the championship, along with a player that headbutted one of his international teammates.

Oh, and if we're lucky, a (not so) cheap knock off of moussa dembele.
In all seriousness though, I like grealish and n'dombele, but hope there's more to come from this window than the names mentioned above.

Really disappointing to hear, especially as everything seemed rosy in the January window with deals lined up and at the start of this window.

The transfers being mentioned (while decent and add depth) will not improve our first 11, and will certainly not make us challenge for the title.

I had always thought we were waiting for this window (new stadium) to really make everyone sit up and and take notice, sadly it seems we're still browsing poundland.

I'm finding it hard to stay positive

Nothings done yet, but we’re so much better than this! If we’re not going to compete off the pitch, we’ll ultimately struggle on it if we want to start winning big trophies. We have a top manager, please back him properly! What more does he have to prove!? COYS!
And you know that he isn't backing him probably how? Before you answer that, you may want to register as an ITK. Supporters like you do come across as not seeing the big picture or not living in the real world.

Urgh. Let's be honest, we were under the impression we would be properly going for it this summer with regards to player acquisitions, but even the most enthusiastic of spin merchants among us can't pretend that the likes of Plea and Barrios are what we had in mind and the calibre of player to take us places..

It's always the same old story with Spurs, we get linked to big names but we never ever bring any in. We sign top prospects and potential sure, but we never go for the finished article or an actual top tier young player who will immediately make a difference for us.

With the position Spurs are in at the moment, we should be going for the title next season 100%. Is Barrios and Plea really going to do it? I just don't see it. We have a very strong squad but we don't need squad fillers, what we need to do is sign players who can immediately fight for the first 11 spots.

I thought this summer we had circa 150 million in our pocket and according to ITK info, we are in for the same types of players as Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal etc but it seems we are in for the same types of players as Leicester and West Ham, nothing changes. If we don't step up a level in the quality of player we bring in, we'll be fighting for 3rd - 6th again at best. It's just frustrating.

Tbh not that bothered. Our expensive signings have mostly been let downs. Toby and wanyama were players we thought do we need?

We'll only know at the end of the season how succesful the transfer window was.

Its pretty funny that you think you've worked this out, yet a very successful businessman somehow hasn't.
We obviously have a budget, and just because selling clubs are just playing hardball, it doesn't mean we can afford to just pay whatever they're demanding.

While I agree in principle, if he has just won the World Cup he will be coming back with 4 World Cup Winning team mates...

I'm not optimistic, we're getting the same promises that appear virtually in every window (this is not having a pop at an ITK), but the man who matters most, Danny boy, doesn't seem to have the will to deliver on them. If we keep falling short in our buys then my fear is that Poch will get fed up & decide he'd better listen next time the likes of RM come calling.

If we seriously want Zaha or Martial then we're to have to make either one of them an offer they can't refuse because unlike AV they don't have to sell. Equally, neither can be last minute deals, because certainly CP is likely to want a replacement before they let him go.

Looking like another frustrating window with no real improvement to our squad which is disappointing considering all the other good things going on at the club.

Slightly concerning that Poch seems to be the one wanting Barrios and Grealish. Great manager, but man his sights are set low if he's the one identifying these guys. Wasn't even convinced when he wanted Barkley.

Edit: By the time we can afford to bring in proven players, the current first XI will have completely disbanded.

It comes to something when the most exciting semi realistic thing on the horizon this window is signing Grealish.

The more I think about it, the more last season's signings were a step up from our prior activity.

Davinson - One of the hottest prospects in world football at CB. Club record fee.
Lucas and Aurier - Two experienced top players from a European giant. Aurier has been erratic but has shown flashes. Moura still bedding in. Both could improve further next season. Both around £25m.
Llorente - Seemed a good signing in the time. 15 PL goals and beat Chelsea to the signature.
Foyth - Prospect that chose us ahead of PSG.

Plea, Grealish and Barrios would seem a regression from that on paper, but you could argue from the above that it has been proven to be just as risky so who knows. That does increase my hopes that there may still be bigger targets on our radar however. Not stepping up is one thing, but going down a level in terms of transfer activity I'd be surprised with.

Remember what he did with a fairly average Rose, and a fairly Average Walker, and how every one of our team all stepped up and improved dramatically. If he thinks this is what we need, then I for one support that. We are too obsessed with financial numbers and 'big names'. How'd that work out for Chelsea and Pool, and Arse? Over three years, we have consistently been the best team.

Getting promises from whom?
