Yeah I can understand why some are underwhelmed, but we've still plenty of time to see what unfolds.

On the one hand it's great we're keeping our key players together and have a settled squad for next season

On the other surely it's time to demonstrate some real ambition, not just to everyone else but to our key players, like Harry, Dele and Eriksen.

A real A list signing would just do that imo.

100% agree. I really think this is a big deal. The way to keep this team together is to convince them we are serious about being a top european club going forward. Make ambitious signings, pay fair wages, the trophies will follow.

in what world is an ITK not posting anything, interesting?

In the context that a lot of ITKs are seemingly still holding stuff back, and JJ usually still posts the odd snippet here and there, even post retirement.

Hope so. Top three finish (y)
I think, though, that most of us were optimistically thinking that we’d show signs of aiming for a top one finish this season.
Delusional, maybe, but somehow starting the season with a goal of finishing behind the 2 Manchester teams seems a bit unambiguous.

Sounds totally underwhelming to me Vs the positive stuff start of window...

Want to believe but I've been here too long.. The Stadium is tying our hands despite what is being said.. The only light is Kane's contract but the only way we will get anyone decent is if superkane goes and get them himself

Our first sign of showing we are ambitious is to sign our best players up on contracts on a par with the big guns. That for me would be enough to believe we are moving in the right direction. Big signing would be a bonus.

I hope that this is true but am confused as to why. If a transfer is determined by the clubs, agents and player with all of the accompanying variables I don't see how media speculation about, or knowledge of, a potential deal can make a difference.

If we charm the player/family/agent well enough before going public, it will reduce the chance of them trying to sniff out a better offer elsewhere. We seem to be big on this, training ground visits, etc... Liverpool seem to as well.

Until we are confident that the player wants us it's much better to keep it as quiet as possible as less clubs know the player is on the market. Win the player over and it can give you leverage in fee negotiations too, just have to be careful not to piss them off (VVD in the summer).

I do agree and a fair point-we are lucky with Kane and if the rest follow I will be more than happy. It's the rest for me I struggle with, hope that kills u! The levy superstar signing that shows intent going into new stadium - we know it won't happen yet we fall into the same trap every year... Bet we end up losing TA and guess what no AM or anything else. Just annoys me, hoping at some point this shit changes.

ManU are very much in our sights. They are not that far ahead at all. City on the other hand are a different beast. Unless they do what they and Chelsea do have a bad year every other year, no-one is catching them. For me, it's a battle for 2nd.

It is being suggested we will break our club transfer record on a player. I await to see that materialise. I remain optimistic-just.
Doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot though.

Lamela, Sissoko, and Sanchez are our last three record breakers and while Sanchez looks promising none of them really altered the team's fortunes.

I agree with the sentiment but I don't think we could have achieved top 4 this year without Davinson.

Breaking the club transfer record seems as a must in todays market. Do we want anyone that is close to be a starter it will be a transfer record.

if the selling team move the goal post asking for higher prices then surely Poch knows how far we can go on the budget. we can't force teams to sell at the price we believed they where available at.

I really can understand the frustration, but can't understand how people expect us to spend 50m+ more than we have budgeted for. we have lost out on Sessegnon because Fulham got promoted, we have lost out on de Ligt because Ajax want nearer 70m compared to the 40-50 we thought/hoped, I saw rumours Martial for 60m, now if they sell they are looking at 70+, and early rumours had Pulsic with a release clause 45?, and they are asking for 70.

stop going into meltdown people, not just you dillspur. we heard we had £150m to spend at the start, yet every target that has been mentioned have had their price head way above, and we are no way in a position to buy them at the now prices

I would rather spend 150m on 2 player's that will make a difference, than 4-5 that will add depth

I'm still optimistic but if we end up with only Grealish, Barrios and Plea, I will not be amused. Appreciate the info as always, lads.

I expect you would, but Poch might feel we need 4 positions covered which then leaves us in a position of not being able to buy the other 2 because you spent it on quality.
