Of course, this assumes that any investor would apply logic and would not overpay, something that doesn't hold true given the spending at Citeh and Chelsea for example.

Think now in football, you got the investors, like ENIC, and other US owners that want to make a profit, and there are the Asian who is looking for a new avenue to express their wealth, and at the same time, trying to increase their company's brand consciousness to the European market.

it's a new world out there. the rich use to buy horses to race, now it's football clubs.

Absolutely agree. There's no business logic behind spending a billion pounds to win the champions league, racking up huge losses along the way other than vanity.

i think the key is what will happen after the owner gets bored of the toy, or gets a new toy? hopefully having someone like Levy still in-charge to make sure things don't spin out of control.

Well, Abramovich got a new toy, his lovely new young model girlfriend, and starting pumping millions of pounds in art to keep her happy. Still managed to win the champions league though.

I dread to think what will happen though when Roman finally introduces her to a certain John Terry :ROFLMAO:

hopefully he will be shot, Russian mafia style! haha!

having a girlfriend isn't really a toy, more of a mistake long term burden lifestyle choice i guess... oh well...

but personally, kinda think there are two offers on the table, one being investment, the other being a buy out. i guess it's which option ENIC wants to take, cash and dash, or stay and play.

I agree that the future revenue earning potential most certainly would increase, but the figures people are quoting about being pumped in would just about support a valuation of £500m (admittedly on a very basic back of a fag packet calculation).

When you compare that valuation to say, what Man Utd (allegedly the world's most valuable sporting club) were acquired for there's not that much scope to increase the valuation post rights issue.

Of course, this assumes that any investor would apply logic and would not overpay, something that doesn't hold true given the spending at Citeh and Chelsea for example.

Agree, but maybe the £200m represents part % for the club and part naming rights which would place a more realistic valuation on the club.

I think Abramovich is here to stay, only my opinion but I think he genuinely loves football and loves having his own club that he has built. His face when they won the CL Final said it all. All this doom-mongering about the day he gets bored...I don't buy it. If this was the case there is no way they would have been looking at the Battersea Stadium proposal.

As for us...all sounds positive...would not be adverse to £200m of naming rights money while transfer and wage wise the club continues as is until that is completed. Levy and Spurs are doing nothing wrong. If it is a bigger % or a buy out (unlikely IMO)...well will be interesting for sure. I always think back to all the Lpool fans I know and when Mourinho won the league how badly they wanted "an Abramovich" and how much they have been burned.

I rated this funny, because it made me laugh, but was technically a mistake; I realised this as a sad realisation crept over me: it's an incredibly accurate foretelling of the future.

Hey, just thought.

Anyone remember the apocryphal tale of Charlie Corluka signing for us, then days later hearing Man. City had been taken over by billionaires and in rage at missing out on a massive pay day he kicked a TV in?

Could lightning strike twice? :p

New itk lads ....Here's the ITK I was on about, from Dragon1. This would be the fair way of doing things, the Tottenham way. It could be good if it was this, with Levy still at the helm, or naming rights.

''Am hearing that what Ben was referring too on Friday in terms of something big going down is significant investment in club rather than sale of takeover,am not sure of details as if Enic are selling lump of shares or if to do with naming rights and this is why no directors are allowed on holiday i until signed off

Find it interesting Enic through various measures have gained 100% control of spurs over the last eleven years and de listed from stock exchange, they could quite easily sell 40% say for two hundred million fund npd turn us into title winners and cl winners etc with a brand new ground and development our value would go up dramatically probably around the 700-800milllion mark and Enic would still own 60% of this

The second bit of my post on ftl was just me saying think was interesting not itk I have no idea what stake Enic would sell and for how much but for those not thinking two to three hundred million cash injection would not make huge difference are wrong

Enic through last eleven years have gradually bought 100 per cent of club, large amounts of npd have been paid for, levy has confirmed ninety million has been spent on land and demolishing buildings etc,the sainsburys deal is worth eighty million and we are getting 27 million from govt/mayor of London ,cost of npd is some 400 million we have about two hundred million left to pay
''

I'm sorry but the Dragon itk is complete rubbish.

Firstly, where has the notion that ENIC own 100% of the shares come from? When they announced their plans to de-list, they owned around 75% of the share capital. Shareholders were given the opportunity to sell their shares back to the club but, I suspect, a significant proportion of investors decided to keep hold of their shares. I know I did. There were also reports of some investors buying up shares on market in the days before de-listing. I would guess that ENIC now hold between 80%-85% of the share capital; definitely well below 100%.

Spurs could well issue new shares to attract further investment but the rights issue would need to be offered to all existing shareholders (i.e. including the 15%-20% that they don't currently own). If the minority shareholders take up the rights, then the new investment would have to be at the expense of ENIC's holding. If the intention is to raise £200m by increasing the share capital by 50%, and ENIC are not intending to put in any new capital themselves, then ENIC shareholding could be diluted to around 55%. This would value Spurs at £600m when our market valuation at the time of de-listing was below £90m. It wouldn't make much sense for the new investor financially, but football is not like other businesses.

ENIC could sell some of their holding but then the realisation would go to them rather than the club.

Quiet in here these days?

I'm unconvinced about the MEGA TAKEOVER ARAB SUPER BUYOUT rumours.

Seems odd that Levy would have got the manager in, signed up Bale and Caulker, sanctioned Sigurdsson if WITHIN LITERALLY DAYS a takeover was a-coming and it'd be all Ronaldo this and Messi that.

I feel it's far more likely that we're gonna get our stadium built and maybe further investment. Some of the ITK suggests Levy would stay on (others rumours suggest he's having a year off!) and I think that it's clear that we are implementing a strategy that tallies with what has gone before. We spent practically nothing for 2 years and have been collecting good fees since the last transfer window, all of which looked like we were building a war chest for Harry's inevitable successor and removing some high earners that we no longer need. We're still selling and buying, we've not actually gone out and spent daft money and in all likelyhood if we do some will be offset by Modric. I'd be mightily concerned if Levy went for any reason.

I'm sure most of you will agree: I like the way our team/squad is shaping up and in Levy I trust. I'd be quite disappointed in a way if big money came in and we signed a load of players at the expense of the quality we have waiting in the wings or coming through. I'm really optimistic that WITHOUT any extra finance we are in excellent shape to improve on last year. I'd hate to end up in a situation like Man. City where you've got truly class players unwanted at the club, a ridiculous turnover of mercenaries with no interest in the club and a constant churn of new players.

It's a balance. It's not like we're small time in any way, it'd just nice to be self sufficient rather than just a plaything of the uber rich.

I wouldn't be too excited by the Sky Sports News thing. For two reasons.

Firstly, journalists ALWAYS talk like that. Wild, assumptive, cobbling-together-of-rumour-and-conjecture, passed off with alcohol-and narcotic-charged brash over-confidence, that sounds to the untrained ear as if this nearly-believable information is fact.

Secondly, the Keith in question is not their Editor but in fact a (so-called) human by the name of KEITH PALMER. SCers of old will attest that this is precisely his modus operandi. Spreading panic, fear and confusion across the Home Counties in his hamster-killing, moped-stealing wake. For years, Geez tried in vain to catch this vicious perpetrator of violent, megalomaniacally insane terrorism, but even he conceded defeat. For years, KP has lain dormant, but it surprises me not one jot that he has chosen this exact moment to spring back into action. He is the Lex Luthor, the Darth Vader, the Green Goblin and Ernst Stavro Blofeld of Tottenham fans, all merged into one.

If you have any doubt about just how evil he is, consider the only established, 100% true fact we know about Keith Palmer: He comes from Tunbridge Wells.

Says it all.

Modric staying, massive investment.....would be great but I think we are setting ourselves up for a fall here. This is all sounding too good and and I cannot believe that none of this is being picked up on by the press if true.

Tunbridge Wells has a smashing cave system, maybe he's been slumbering in his lair?
