getting the player is the same result as spotting the player. From my living room i could see that Insigne of Napoli/Italy was good last night, getting close to him and convincing him/his club to part ways is where the skill comes in.

You want a scout or you want someone to sign good players? the latter can do both, that's Baldini.

It is totally unfair to call AVB's targets poor when all of them have gone on to have great seasons and secure very expensive moves. They may be unrealistic but that does not equate with poor. Of course, Anderson is a shite target, I will give JJ that one.

No vacation? That's fucked up. I've got 8 weeks of fully paid vacation coming up. Every year. Yeah. And I get 2, 5 weeks off during Christmas and one week each term.

Personally, I think we're going to have to wait until the 4 CL clubs in our league do their business as they've got a lot more cash to spend than us and most of them have new managers too. Once that's done, the prices for the likes of Benteke will get a bit more realistic I.e somewhere around the £20m mark.

Benteke is a perfect example for me as to why you want more than one head deciding who to buy and what to pay. Talented player no doubt but possibly a one season wonder. Possibly also a Heskey in the making. Well worth making a good bid, say max 15 million pounds, beyond that too much of a risk for a team not supported by oil etc money ?

exactly, we dont want sloppy seconds on Manu, Chavs and Citys targets. We are getting in a DoF to find us specific players for our needs, players who will want to come to us for what we are building. Wecant compete with those guys on wages and should have learnt our lesson by now not to waste time fighting it out with any of those 3 for players.

As already mentioned, it's fairly certain that JJs use of the word "poor" was not in relation to the quality of the players - in fact the opposite is true in many cases - they were so good the transfer fee and wages required were not feasible.

A somewhat laboured analogy would be buying a new car. In many cases AVB was asking for Ferraris and Lambourghinis, when Dan could only stretch to a nice 2nd hand Merc or BMW.
