Pulisic and Grealish are completely different players and I, for one, would be a bit worried if the club viewed them as 'either/or' targets...
They are both players who can differ our attacking play, that's what we need and that's all we need to be focusing on. Soon as you get fixated on certain positions you limit your pool.

Agree. Have we even had a solid link to one? ITK or media?

The main ‘big deals’ being discussed appear to be Martial and De Ligt. The CM options I’ve seen are all much worse than Dembele. And Grealish is not a CM.

If the ITK and media reports accurately reflect the club’s focus in the market, then it’s really quite bizarre.
I get the sense we are not replacing Dembele with a like-for-like replacement. I think Poch is looking for a more progressive player/passer/attacker in CM - wants a more up-tempo transition, and not just someone to shield the ball.

Why are some going ape shit if we sign say Grealish? Pulisic, who we have been all over since time and memorial at 60m. Is he say 40m better than the likes of Grealish?

Will we spend 20-30m on Rondon? No!
May as well spend 60m on Martial. If that don’t work, spend 20m from Europe on a 22 year old?

Will we pay Norwich 30m for Maddison against Grealish?

Being smart, and allowing money for one big splash (Martial?), and a different kind of defensive midfield for 30m, give or take?

Lamela argument. Like it or not, he is expendable. Do I believe he will be here next season? Yes! But can’t say 100%. Will he be offered s new contract? Dury is out. My opinion; maybe turn of the year, if he delivers. More than chasing down.

That is how you have to think. Because that is how the club and manager are thinking.
Not a swipe at either yourself or the information above, which I'm really grateful you take the time to share with us, but going by that post I'm disappointed that the club seemingly want to spend their big bucks up front in the winger/forward positions, and that the CM area seems to be playing second fiddle (albeit certainly not completely neglected, as per mentioning of a search for a different type of DM).

I trust Poch, but personally I'd be making central midfield priority number 1 and putting most of our financial resources into getting the very best player we can possibly afford there, and then having a look to see if there's anyone on the market who could add to the squad in the forward positions. Just my opinion, and hopefully we get good options in both positions regardless of how we're allocating our resources.

Thanks very much for sharing regardless.

Dear Daniel

Eddie says, he'll accept Grealish as long as you buy a top player to replace Dembele.
You don't want to upset Eddie. Seriously. He once cut his mum over a slice of Victoria sponge and he doesn't like short people much to begin with.

Anyway, just a heads up, your choice. Top player or a tooled up Eddie out for blood.

I knew it! I knew you were hiding in the cupboard during that incident. And there was me thinking that sticky stuff on the shelf was jam...

In any case, you winnered my post so you agree. Meet at dawn. Outside Levy’s house. You bring the dildos.

So 20 for Grealish, 60 for Martial, and 30 for a "defensive mid" according to Herc leaves about 40 mil for center back? Wonder if that was about their upper limit for DeLigt?

Really curious why a defensive midfielder would be a priority with Dier and Vic there.

This is key, there is still plenty of value in the market. Just have to be good at finding it.
Absolutely- we need to be clever. Is Grealish any less a prospect than say Barkley? And if we get hold of a Martial type quality player because we’re careful with our money, as well as a decent CM, then that sounds quite successful

Don't forget about players sales too.

Herc stated "a different kind of defensive midfielder" - sounds to me that we are focusing on a player who may be a little more box-box. Could be wrong of course.

I actually quite like Grealish? I'd certainly not be disappointed if we picked him up. Exactly the sort of project Poch loves.

I think the biggest thing Dembele brings to us beyond his incredible strength is his ability to break the lines by carrying the ball.

Lucas Moura is the only other guy in our squad who gets near that ball carrying ability.

I think it’s what we’ll miss most, and it’ll be interesting to see how we cope with that if we don’t replace like-for-like.

Obviously trust Poch but still curious.

Perhaps not so much defensive as one of the two -(Dembele position) and only defensive to distinguish him from one of the three behind Harry.

£20m for Grealish would be a great deal. If he makes it into the England squad in the next couple of years his value will rocket.
Sure, except I doubt they would sell him for 20m so if we get up to 40 then you have to ask yourself, is an extra 20m worth it for a 19 year old player that has shown a lot more for Dortmund than a 22 year old has for Aston Villa. But yeah, at 20m, why not?

Grealish, alright, I'm onboard. Seems strange to say it was either him or Pulisic.

Don't understand where all the CL money has gone if we're only bringing in one Marquee signing.

It doesn't feel like we're being brave in the slightest.

People are within their rights to grumble because the season ticket prices are so high and we haven't won anything.

Personally be delighted with grealish looks like he has really turned it around and has had a change in attitude! Watching villa the few games I did he was by far their best player and has huge potential grealish and dele could be tasty ??

Herc stated we are after a different kind of defensive midfielder - perhaps a type that can do that.

so is the suggestion that Jack Grealish has always been Poch’s number 1 understudy for Eriksen? Or he is number 1 choice now Pulisic is too expensive?
