Grealish, alright, I'm onboard. Seems strange to say it was either him or Pulisic.

Don't understand where all the CL money has gone if we're only bringing in one Marquee signing.

It doesn't feel like we're being brave in the slightest.

People are within their rights to grumble because the season ticket prices are so high and haven't won anything.

The thing that worries me is the "why pay £60m for X player when you can get X player (who is not as good) for £20m" type of statements...

That to me sounds like the same old story in regards to our recent recruitment.

Edit: For the record, I like Grealish and think he'd be a decent signing for us but not instead of Pulisic for example. One player is a lot better than the other (and younger)

I’ll accept Grealish as long as we buy a top player with experience to replace Dembele.

If he’s coming in as a different option for the squad, because the price is good, then fine.

This is the bit that worries me...

Being smart, and allowing money for one big splash (Martial?), and a different kind of defensive midfield for 30m,

Unless Vic is going we don’t need a DM, we need a creative B2B. In my opinion I would much rather make one big splash on a CM and get a lesser player for a rotation (wing) forward then spend a lot on Martial and bring in someone of less pedigree as a CM. It’s the one position we have desperately been lacking real qulity for a while (Dembele, as good as he is on his day is inconsistent and injury prone) and one I wish we would address first (and spend most on if appropriate). I understand we are getting Grealish as he’s cheap, available and British but I don’t really see why we need him. But no concerns if it means money saved for quality where we are most lacking.

Why are some going ape shit if we sign say Grealish? Pulisic, who we have been all over since time and memorial at 60m. Is he say 40m better than the likes of Grealish?

Will we spend 20-30m on Rondon? No!
May as well spend 60m on Martial. If that don’t work, spend 20m from Europe on a 22 year old?

Will we pay Norwich 30m for Maddison against Grealish?

Being smart, and allowing money for one big splash (Martial?), and a different kind of defensive midfield for 30m, give or take?

Lamela argument. Like it or not, he is expendable. Do I believe he will be here next season? Yes! But can’t say 100%. Will he be offered s new contract? Dury is out. My opinion; maybe turn of the year, if he delivers. More than chasing down.

That is how you have to think. Because that is how the club and manager are thinking.

Because Graelish is shit.

If you are to believe Herc's latest ITK then we are still trying for de Ligt despite it being hard. He would represent a big outlay.

de Ligt
Martial
Grealish
CM/DM - German player/league ? 22 years old/costs 20-30m [ cant quite remember Herc's figures ]

We obviously need to find out who the CM/DM would be but I'd say that would be a good start with no doubt 1-2 other bits of business happening dependant on sales.

A large part of Dembele's game was that he offered us good defensive screening alongside the other DM, to go along with his ball carrying skills etc. It wouldn't be a surprise for me to see Poch add a central attacking midfielder ( Grealish ) and a CM that has a blend of offensive and defensive skills to cover the gap and offer options dependant on opposition, alongside Winks.

Finally something worth reading on SC today. Thanks guys. :D

"We will get HIM because he only costs 20M". Fuck that. You know what's even cheaper? Signing nobody. That's 0M.

Unless I have misunderstood Herc...I am worried if we fail to sign Martial for 60mill then we will try to sign a 22year old from Europe for 20mill?

Not sure about that...seems the price and potentially the quality will drop massively if we dont get Martial.

Unless I read Herc's post wrong

Often EPL players are more expensive then other european players.

We dont seem capable of making that “statement signing” that will push us forward, because yet again we are constrained and hindered by our finances albeit slightly less so than before.

Perhaps it’ll be a few more seasons before that can happen?

Herc stated we are after a different kind of defensive midfielder - perhaps a type that can do that.

Most likely someone in the mould of Fernandinho... mobile, athletic and can pass. Wanyama and Dier both have the turning circle of my girlfriend practising an 18, I mean 3 point turn lol

Looked it up, Jack Grealish is signed to the STELLAR FOOTBALL agency. Same as Bale, Trippier, Gylfi, llalana etc.
