Whether we get Leandro or not, it would be very lovely to know our list isn't similar to below, although many of us worry that is an exact replica

1 - Adebayor
2 - Falcao
3 - Llorent
4 - Leandro
5 - Why would we need more than 4 targets

Think its inevitable we will be pursuing multiple good strikers in parallel, Position on each I would suggest is :

Ade - Cannot move forward until Ade/ManC finish their debate on whether ManC will contribute something to Ade's year 3 and 4 of his contrsct with Spurs to get him from a Spurs wage (say £100k) towards his Man City wage (£175k). This could run for next 2 weeks - or could be resolved with MnC and.or Ade backing down

Leandro - Complication is Milan want a striker, preferably Dzeko but are stuck with same negotiation as Spurs with Ade over Dzeko's wages. ManC need to move fairly quickly to deal with Dzeko or Milan will try to persuade Leandro they are a better bet than Spurs.

Llorente - His possible transfer seems to have come as a surprise to everyone. Lots of top clubs will be in for him including Spurs - unless we are lucky and only Milan want him, in which case we might trade Leandro and Llorente between us.

Others - I am sure there are one or two back up options, not as good as those 3 nut they will be there (eg Fletcher of Wolves as a no 2 after one of the 3 above).

Love to think the Dortmund striker is in the mix too but not sure Dortmund will let go that easily

Honestly no matter whether we get LD or not we need a 1st team striker at Adebayor's level. And I'm struggling to think of people who would come and aren't going to cost that much. Huntelaar maybe?

Wish Berbatov had stayed, he could have become a legend here by now. We could do with him now but I don't think he could come back here. To think he's going for £5m lol

Get back in and don't come back until you've hit context level 5. And while you're at it confirm that JJ was joking about Cumberstone being Modric's replacement.

Seriously, cheers for the effort, appreciated, there wasn't a rating that covered "you tried, but didn't inform, wasn't really useful, didn't really tell me anything I liked or agreed with". Do you want a "friendly" ? Best offer ?
Lol :) "Dumb" is probably the appropriate reward in that case! I can confirm, however, that someone did mention that JJ was joking about Cumberstone. Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found it in that verbal pile of poo, or, indeed, who said it, so you will just have to content yourself with my hazy recollection on that point! ;)

Llorente will not move to a team not in the Champs League I'm told, and the word in Spain is that Bilbao, who are already difficult to deal with, will likely price him out of a move as they'll be asking for something crazy like at least £30-35m.

We bid for him when we panicked and ended up with Carroll but they turned down our £35m offer instantly and told us to come back with at least £40m. We quite rightly told them to do one.

It may be a little easier now if he has asked for a move but if Bilbao don't want to sell him it will be hard for anylne besides City and PSG etc to agree a deal. They will also know that selling him could pave the way and set the prescedent for their other top players to leave the club so will be looking to set an example straight off the bat if they sell Llorente that they won't be had off.

I don't think he'll come back either. Although in 2008 we couldn't really turn down United's offer I really wish he had stayed. So much skill, so elegant.

I don't know though, JJ's ITK makes it seem like we have others in mind. And I honestly can't think of many. I wish he would give us some names :(

Maybe, but Bilbao pride themselves on having Basques there to promote local culture, so if Llorente insists on a move, think Bilbao will have to agree (although proce may be an issue) to preserve their 'local' club culture.

I would suggest Liverpool's problem was that you sold Torres at the end of the window and had to recruit verey quickly, and ran out of time immediately with Llorente and moved quickly onto the only one available - Carroll

I know you said you panicked when you ended up with Carroll but i did have to chuckle at not wanting to offer £5m more so got a bargin in, Andy.

Makes sense (well...Bilbao's dealings...not Liverpool spunking £35m on a purple patch bouncer type).

A massive issue when it comes to Bilbao and their players is the fact that they are more or less the national Basque team, and Llorente is their star player. It's more than just an issue of selling players to fund the club...it's a complicated political issue that is in question.

Personally I've always been a bit of a fan of Atheltic Bilbao and their ethos. I'd be surprised if Llorente went anywhere other than to a big club for big money.

We cant afford Llorente's wages anyway so theres no chance we were going to sign him, even after having him over last summer when we played Bilbao at the Lane.

JJ had mentioned 175k last summer.......yet he's only on about 60k a Bilbao so obviously his next move will be a big payout for himself.

If/when we eventually sign Ade I believe he'll be on no more than 110k a week and will cost about 20 million less than Llorente.

Yes his wage isn't that high. At the time he was asking a whole load more to move to England if I remember because of the huge difference in the tax, but I think that has now changed in Spain and the players are getting taxed far more.

Also the transfer fee is probably lower than it would have been considering that his contract expires next summer and he is into the last year of his contract. Whether we can get him, I really doubt it, but it makes more sense financially than last summer.
