Carrasco is probably going to Atletico, it seems close to a done deal, with rumours saying he will sign on Friday, so it's almost definitely not him.

Personally I think the DM will be the experienced option we sign, possibly experienced in the Prem as well - which would point to the likes of McCarthy. Fits Pochs style - good defensive qualities and can move the ball forward well.

The more exciting younger targets wide players/ forwards coming from the foreign Leagues.

JJ did say previously it could be a blend like that.

Jasper says it doesn't seem like McCarthy, but I do like the strategy JJ is alluding too.

I still hold out hope that we have an option or two above McCarthy though, just think we can do a bit better/aim higher. I could be being unfair on him though.

Suarez probably fits the JJ/Jasper ITK together. Experienced and a team player, albeit not PL.

JJ has ruled out Mirallas in the past as well- I think he said it was the agent pushing a move and we weren't necessarily interested.

Yeah its an interesting one. I think he'd be excellent but injury record and high price are concerning.

I hope so, but he didnt deny it when anyone mentioned JM.

I think it's McCarthy, and while he is decent, I thought we could and should aim higher.

Jasper on SO re McCarthy and targets

McCarthy not happening as far as I am aware. Ade be difficult to Villa for stupendous financial reasons, as well as location. The Benteke inquiry no go. 2 at least will be from Europe, and do not discount another Belgium if a deal can be done. Visa outcome will determine if it is worth pursuing a South American young 20 year old I think but not sure. My opinion shared as always.

Hmmm.... all we would need to complete Vertonghen's love circle is his best mate (who happens to be available), Dries Mertens.

Hmm perhaps, but I would have took the thumbs up to be answering the question with a "yes". Plus the other ITK which says McCarthy isn't happening.

Not that I would be against getting him, he's a decent player. I just think he would almost certainly be over-priced.
