We have the best squad, the best youngsters coming through and a squad, most of which signed new contracts in the last year or two. More importantly we have the best manager to develop them.

Poch is unhappy about what? Levy not spunking another 30m down the toilet on his recommendation?

The players are unhappy about what? That contract that they were happy to sign 6 months ago is now worth less and want another.

If this is true then both Poch and the players need to grow a pair and the deal stuff, chairman wants best deal shocker!

Levy is far from perfect and should attempt to keep people happy. Although from all the new contracts, facilities and Sissoko he seems to have done that.

One month of inactivity in a ridiculous market has turned people in to lunatics.

Best squad?... Bruv.

How do we strengthen our first 11?
In a perfect world - we continue to strengthen our first 11 organically. By that I mean, most of the team are still improving and have not reached their peak. So we continue to provide them with an environment conducive to improving individually, and collectively.

A few players are at their peak, and also among the best in the league at what they do - so the key is to bring in younger talent who are willing to grow into those roles as older players start to decline.

The challenge, of course, is that many of those younger players want to walk into a team no matter where they go - so we have to be creative about finding the right players at the right time.

Kane, Eriksen, Dele, Dier are all much better players today than they were at this time last year. Son has had another year of acclimatization. Trippier is better, Davies is better at his position. Toby is at his peak and will be for a few years the best CB in teh league. Vertonghen and Dembele are the two players who are at their peak, but in danger of declining over the next couple of seasons. So, we want to have young players come in to compete for those spots. Could be Winks/Onomah for Dembele. Right now - the only position where we do not have adequate back-up is for Eriksen - if Lamela were healthy, maybe he could provide that role.

To match his current wages, £700K a week before tax on a 5 year deal = 182,000,000

Plus let's say a £70M fee

A measly quarter of a billion to sign Gareth Bale back. Doable?

If we got £50m plus for Walker them the £70m fee wouldn't be impossible.
It's the wages that would be a problem. Even if Madrid paid half I still couldn't see us paying what he'd want. And can you imagine what the rest of the squad would think if we did pay him those sort of wages?

wow not sure where to start . . As far as Barkley is concerned I 've been told nothing agreed. Like Breezer I was told something about Bale back in May but refused to believe it until it was explained that the financials could work. Bale would not be sold for anywhere near what we sold him for he is with Nike so large sponsorship deal I.e. personal image rights bonus and a load of other spin offs. Not saying it will get done but not totally put of the realms of possibility.

Plus I'm not sure Bale would be all that great at RB.

I'm well aware! It's a generic term for the face of a club. Ronaldo, Pogba, Messi, Terry etc. The kind you want to be your rainmaker in the commercial setting. Fyi, I hate theAmericanisationn of 'soccer' and wasn't using the term that way

No it's not. It's the term that is used in America to describe the face of the franchise. You're literally the only person I've ever heard use it when talking about a football player.

take a few hours off the thread and come back to nonsense about Bale. Where did that come from, surely no real ITK? We can't even cross the line in deals for relative nobodies

Who the hell would you drop out of Alli and Eriksen if Bale came back? Impossible to decide.

wow not sure where to start . Apart from the Walker and obvious issue with wages I think the Goat must have had a bad curry last night cos the rest is a pile of do do. Would be a really incredible move but I thought Bale was with Adidas?

By the way The Goat said earlier that Levy has a very good PR team. This morning this place was in meltdown over Levy's tactics. This evening we're talking about signing Bale.
