still debating this blue & yellow stuff then? i choose to stay away from the guessing, since whoever we end up signing, potl will reveal some sort of dubious link to one/both of those colours. as proven by the fact this thread has managed to link almost every striker in europe to those two colours!

wayne rooney - blue (former everton)
neymar - yellow (brazil)

solved.
its all they go on about on here at mo... rossi and ice creams.

Been really bored at work for the last hour, no crossword so thought i'd try a cryptic:

"The third learned his trade in what sounds like Ms Spears' country."

How about Yoann Gourcuff from Lyon - born and raised in Brittany?? Check out his early career on Wikipedia

Any chance of a brief recap of what happened today? Anything?

POTL got everyone excited by saying "happy Friday," Modric is apparently unhappy, Perdroza failed a medical, Ceballos is here on Monday and blue and yellow appears to allude to Rossi or some other marquee signing.

yeah, that'd be a good thing..... But i'm guessing nothing has happened. So a recap of nothing Rob, unfortunately, means nothing. Dam, we need some stuff to get going on here eh?

Stuff happening? Not a sausage

Optimistic ITK? POTL's info made out like something could happen, blue and yellow etc, but nothing has. Original#10 gave the impression Leandro was on, and two others were in the pipeline. Ryantegan put it bluntly that Rossi was subject to a bid and was a top target. Another ITK said Modric was a bit unsettled, but after a night on the lash with Charlie, and a crunching tackle from Dawson in training, all's back to normal

Tottenham are ready to sign the 'new Didier Drogba' - Ivory Coast's sensational teenage striker Souleymane Coulibaly.
Spurs supremo Daniel Levy has teed up a stunning £2 million deal for Coulibaly, who has scored nine goals in just four games at the mini World Cup in Mexico.
Coulibaly - just 16 years and six months - bagged back-to-back hat-tricks, including some amazing strikes to get some of the game's giants stampeding for the young 'Elephant' hit man.
The fantastic talent plays for AC Siena's youth team but he can be bought and Spurs are flying to Italy today in a bid to seal the deal ahead of Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Coulibaly has been likened to Drogba because of his explosive power and shooting and the fact that he is almost half the age of the Ivory Coast and Chelsea star.
And while Harry Redknapp would love the original version if Chelsea would sell, crafty Levy has worked on the move to land the new version.
Spurs have so much faith in Coulibaly that they will offer him a squad number and promote him to Redknapp's first-team squad immediately - all part of the incentive to sign.
Levy has masterminded Tottenham's transfers so far this summer, landing keeper Brad Friedel for nothing and bringing in Mexican hot shot Antonio Pedroza Whitham who has just arrived in London.

I admit that all I've seen of this whippersnapper is a 3 minute reel off YouTube, but please GOD let it be true that we're gonna sign him. He is the NEXT BIG THING. But - Real Madrid are looking at him, Barca are looking at him, the big Italian teams are aware of him, and, after his heroics at the u17 World Cup, every other bugger is looking at him.

It'll be a real coup for who ever he goes to. But, realistically, it won't be us. We're not quite high profile enough. Coulibaly will end up at one of the CL elite.

Yep. He'll end up with a club where he has no chance of getting into the first team any time soon like so many other great young players.

Watched him play and brazil absolutely dominated that match, he hardly got the ball but he managed to get a hat trick was a brilliant performance by him

This has reminded me (gratuitous plug alert) of the Mabbutt interview I did earlier this week when he told me that "Harry has his list", "We really like Drogba" and then, when I pressed him on the likelihood of that given DL's history of not paying big bucks for players over 30 he said "I think if Harry says he wants Drogba, we’ll try to get him. But Daniel is very shrewd in the market and he is careful how he spends his money."

I suppose, reading between the lines there and noting the careful choice of phrase (ie notably NOT saying "Drogba is the one we want" as he did with Gary Cahill) you could intimate that a Drogba-esque player but younger would actually suit everybody.

Don't be daft...

Maybe Arsene Wenger will be our manager soon. That'll really attract that goon.

............. Dan Levy would set himself a target of making Spurs competitive at the very top of the English and European game again (which is what he has done), get so close, and then just...not bother. The fact is that he has been on a steep learning curve, and this explains why sometimes he underestimates what needs to be done - like last Summer and in January underestimating just how hard it would be to get a geuine World Class striker.

.........I don't know that he will finally resolve our striking dilemma anymore than you know that he won't. But I do think there are grounds for optimism, and would suggest you show a little more patience.

With regard to para 1. I hope you are right and its a salient point. For both Dl and H, ( i hope people actually take that on board) its has been a learning curve, and with the best will in the world, mistakes can be made. Which actually is ok, as long as they are taken on board and not repeated.....Of course the question is, have lessons actually been learnt? Right now we don't know, (i'm not willing to accept itk telling me this, or in fact DL himself, as it really a case of "proof is in the pudding" rather than words) So rather than being Optimistic, or pessimistic, I'll sit on the fence, and wait to see what actually happens. If they have really learnt something, we should be seeing "our striker/s" in ready for pre-season.

re second para.......Buying a striker will show intent, whether it a solution we will only know when we actually start playing some competitive games
