I'd also add it's not just the buying clubs hitting panic mode there are clubs that desperately need to sell or risk FFP violations. They have a bit more time to do so abroad but as I posted earlier, Premier league cash is king and the best way to maximise what they can get for players is to sell to PL clubs. This applies to teams from all over Europe fwiw.

I know it seems like it's impossible to do things this late on but it really isn't. I have been around the people involved in these deals for long enough now to know that the dick waving is what consumes the time and once that is out of the way things can and do happen fairly quickly.

I can see a fair few deals tomorrow happening(and failing) subject to medical after the deadline has passed. Believe me when I say there are a fair few clubs in exactly the same boat.

Is it possible to sign a player subject to medical in the last min?

I always thought deadline deals are very often done without medical. You either register a player with FA on time or not.. can somebody teach me?

Thanks for that, I didn't realise that was an option to sign a player and make it subject to medical which can be done after the window closes. That's good to know and gives me a bit more hope that we can get stuff done. Not sure if that's a good thing or not mind you.

This is why I'm more confident that if we do make a move it will most likely be for someone outside of the PL (aside of Grealish if that happens).

Edit - I shouldn't say confident. But moreso it makes sense that we would look outside of the PL for the reasons Trix listed.

If we can't sign anyone good, I'd rather no one at all lest we end up in the next TW with the same problem of having to dispose of a large number of unsuitables.

Yeah, they can be completed after the window has closed as long as all paperwork has been submitted

It makes complete sense, it's just crazy how time is slipping away and nothing seems to be moving!

Exactly this. Documentation can be created instantly after entering a few variables. All pretty standard software these days. And with emails and technology now, comms can be done in seconds. That is... unless...

We've not got rid of the fax machine yet?

Totally agree. The January window is usually shite so I guess we will have to reconcile ourselves to a whole year before we can start seriously talking transfers again.

Yeah the FA have to be shown that there is a deal in place, and all the correct paperwork is in order.

Players can complete the medical after that.

But can the transfer then be cancelled should the player fail the subsequent medical post the window deadline close? I would have thought that once the paperwork for the transfer has been submitted, that there is no going back after the deadline.

By paperwork, you mean signed transfer agreement for example? And then the other day when player fails the medical, then you what, cancel the submission?

And if he fails the medical another day, then what?

Because "subject to medical" could be also translated to "subject to fee agreement" where you make a submission but then cancel it.

The transfer agreement will be sent off to the FA or who ever, but if the player fails a medical the transfer can still fall through.

This rule can be very easily abused then. We could still negotiate with Villa for JG but both decide to submit paperwork just in case if we agree the next day maybe. And if not, simply call it off at FA.
