I bet the Gooners are rubbing their hands in delight at this. They all said we would feel the pinch with the stadium and we all tried to deny it...

Will be even funnier when we finish above them again and there old and free transfers run out of puff half way through the season!

I think this is correct.

The lack of a stadium sponsor may have necessitated a rethink on transfers this window.

The big wage rises for existing players surely has some effect too.

If incomings were limited to JG it is still a nett £30m spend. That's totally out of keeping with the last number of years.

But don’t forget we can sell overseas until the end of the month so plenty of time to shift deadwood.

Just have to think of Deadline day as a really shit M Knight Shyamalan film, just laugh at the implausible twists and turns then at the end get told the Window was closed all along :nailbiting:

Then you have to rewind it and watch the whole thing again, and see it actually did make sense...
I’m on a flight back to the UK all day tomorrow and have just set Sky+ for the final 3 hours...

Just to pull this one up from earlier (posted at 11.22 this morning), I think it could be very telling that 9 hours later, we haven't heard any stories leaking about us being in for anyone other than grealish

I was thinking the same... looking at it positively, it’s been complete radio silence from the ITKs, something is definitely going on!

Levy has to leave it so late so all you misery guts can cram as many rib shattering puns in about "levy-time", "wheelbarrow of cash", "FFS sign x" and "fax machines"..... personally i can't get enough of em, and spend the whole transfer window praying we don't sign anyone just so all you budding Oscar Wildes can wax lyrical in varying stages of mental anguish.... I would suggest a chill pill but you would write "Levy you have ruined my life" all over it in really small letters...

We aint signed anyone (so far!).... you're all acting like you wanna build a commemorative fountain in this transfer windows honour....

I think the only real thing of note is we’ve had a summer of positive noises, and f all actual results.

The cynic would say it was the club drumming up excitement for expensive new season to tickets.

As it happens I’m not cynical, I just think they’ve been unclear on who they wanted and could realistically get, been bullied by certain teams, tried to call others’ bluff etc.

...and they’ve fucked it all. Totally fucked it.

My guess now is that if we end tomorrow with Grealish in we’ve done well.

Now he’s a talented young player, but if that’s the extent of our dealings it will leave us massively under weight in midfield for the coming season.

Look at Chelsea’s midfield now - we’re in trouble here

We shall see who is laughing when they fly out to the middle of no where to play their Europen games!

I share your frustrations at the TW, however with the ITK highlighting various options I am just about seeing the glass half full!

I can’t believe they’d even bother sending some second rate hack down there to cover what’s quickly becoming diddly squat :bored:

Better there than getting a dildo* in the ear for some orc in stoke

Agents will be all over us tomorrow. There may still be a gem.

In Levy time. If we have a wheelbarrow of cash. And the fax machine works.

FFS sign X!

Still think Grealish will get done, we're well into the posturing and playing silly buggers phase now and to be fair our chairman's been holding a master class on these shenanigans for about 17 years so its to be expected from others too. Sounds like there's plenty of brinkmanship going on will be interesting to see how things pan out tomorrow, could be one of the busier deadline days across the league. Breezer's usually spot on with info so I reckon we'll land Grealish +1

So much conflicting ITK today. I no longer know what to hope for.

Keep having to pinch myself that there's less than 24 hours left and we have done absolutely nothing in THREE MONTHS. What a sorry state of affairs. Ah well, at least the football is just around the corner. COYS (y)

Don't mean to disrespect anyone, but nearly all the trusted ITKs came out and said the stadium wouldn't impact our spending.

Anyone beginning to think the club is feeding us misinformation? We could have sealed a deal for Grealish and didn't. Zaha, Martial and every other footballer under the sun seems to be dead, as far as we are concerned. Meanwhile Kovacic goes to Chelsea!!! Still, if we're lucky, we might still get Grealish by seriously overpaying, and bring in a Norwegian kid, and an even younger kid from Shamrock Rovers.

In other news, West Ham spend £100m. Fulham £72m. Toby could yet go to Man Utd. I pray Eriksen has signed a new contract - with no release clause! - Barca coming in with a massive offer which Levy bites their hand off for after our window has closed would put the tin lid on it. And before anybody says I'm ITK bashing, I most certainly am not. Let's hope the club aren't playing us all, them included. Hoping against hope the morning info about 2 at least still in proves to be well founded.

I think we're being more than a bit hypocritical suggesting others have overpaid if we pursue Grealish beyond 25m.

As i said at the beginning, I've given up on the value of a Poch pre-season, as long as we replace any outgoings with similar or ideally superior quality even just in time then so be it. If we don't, I'd be surprised we see Eriksen signing a new deal.

Good job there's some decent cricket on tomorrow as well.
