Surely the bottom line is wages

Highly optimistic but I'd like to think players sometimes look at the atmosphere of the club and team mates when making decisions. Not many players are like that but we seem to be building it at the club at the moment.

As far as Levy and the club are concerned, yes. But if a player wants out there is no point in forcing him to stay

EDIT: Levy tried to keep Bale, Modric and Berbatov but they all played up and went in the end.
Yeah, but it takes awhile too though. Modric and Bale were trying to move at least a year before it actually came to fruition. Berbatov only happened so quickly because his contract was running out. Something which saw us completely overturn a bunch of club policy.

Overall we haven't seen any signs whatsoever of this. Personally when I finally see one of our top players pushing for a move it likely means it will happen next year and to a non-PL team. That's not happening at all though, and I don't suspect it will this year.

Dier is a mainstay in the Tottenham and now probably England midfield. One of the players that these teams are built around. However, it really depends on how he sees himself.

Personally I'd thank the club and Poch for elevating my career in this way and stick with the masterplan - especially in regard to the National team, where he could never have expected such a rise. But like it or not money will come into it. The more Bayern and United start sniffing and tell him indirectly how wonderful he is then the more we will inevitably have to pay the guy.

We will rapidly get to a stage where (imo) we will need to reevaluate our wage structure. Not in regards to just Dier but a whole host of our other young stars. Might not be a totally smooth ride.

Re Dier ITK, of course it's worrying and you could see it happening, but at least you know Levy would absolutely take them to the cleaners if he we can't convince him to stay, they have no leg to stand on if they pay £100m for Pogba, top drawer English DM would be at least half of that.

It's been good not worrying about Utd getting our players post-Fergie but things change with Mourinho there and their £150k-250k wages.

We need another big season, and also need to hope we can hold firm next summer before he inevitably poisons the dressing room after 1-2 seasons.

He can do what he likes, nobody poch wants to keep will be sold.

I tend to agree with us, but if we don't hit the same heights next season it could become a lot more difficult. Personally I think we'll put in another strong performance next season, out of the media spotlight but with players that actually believe they can compete for the title.

Modric wanted to move a year earlier but that was not the case with Bale. Bale was quoted as saying he was looking forward to the season with spurs just before his last season started, it then took a while to turn his head with the tapping up from distance by Madrid. It wasn't until the end of the season that rumours started of him going.

Of course an additional way of looking at it is greedy just for money or greedy for success? Players also of course wish to win things and maybe money is not the B all and end all. Vardy probably proved that.

But inevitably the more successful teams generally are then the more money they have to spend. This it itself continues the circle. The players at Spurs have to believe that the club will become highly successful or when the opportunity arises they may wish to move for both the above reasons. Sad as a fan, but realistic I guess.

mat_k on COYS in regards to Dier: "Mourinho wants him big time. From a source very close to Dier. United don't expect to get him this summer but hopeful of next."

That twat is just playing mind games. He's always hated us. :banghead:

Hilarious how many dismiss us selling a first teamer if Poch don't want to. Im sure we can keep hold of them a year easily, maybe even 2 years, but if they keep improving and we refuse to pay them anywhere close to what a club like United are ready to pay them they are gone.
