Hilarious how many dismiss us selling a first teamer if Poch don't want to. Im sure we can keep hold of them a year easily, maybe even 2 years, but if they keep improving and we refuse to pay them anywhere close to what a club like United are ready to pay them they are gone.

The important thing is the club keeps pace with their ambitions on the pitch.

Poch cleared out the mercenaries. I can't see any of this group moving sideways/backwards for a few extra £10ks

Modric wanted to move a year earlier but that was not the case with Bale. Bale was quoted as saying he was looking forward to the season with spurs just before his last season started, it then took a while to turn his head with the tapping up from distance by Madrid. It wasn't until the end of the season that rumours started of him going.

Bale was gone long before that. There is no way we were spending 80m that summer without knowing we had that covered.

Not even remotely worried about Dier leaving. He's a classy kid that seems very loyal to me.

Man Utd, and Mourinho in particular, can suck on my balls.

I was always under the impression that a promise had been made to Bale that if we didn't make CL we'd allow him to move on. A promise made the year before, when teams were looking to buy him.

Whether he was made any promises or not only Levy and Bale know, but that wasn't the point in question. You said he was trying to move a year earlier.....he wasn't.

Dier is a mainstay in the Tottenham and now probably England midfield. One of the players that these teams are built around. However, it really depends on how he sees himself.

Personally I'd thank the club and Poch for elevating my career in this way and stick with the masterplan - especially in regard to the National team, where he could never have expected such a rise. But like it or not money will come into it. The more Bayern and United start sniffing and tell him indirectly how wonderful he is then the more we will inevitably have to pay the guy.

We will rapidly get to a stage where (imo) we will need to reevaluate our wage structure. Not in regards to just Dier but a whole host of our other young stars. Might not be a totally smooth ride.
I would think the wage structure will increase when we move into tehe new stadium so it remains where it is as a % of turnover

Of course an additional way of looking at it is greedy just for money or greedy for success? Players also of course wish to win things and maybe money is not the B all and end all. Vardy probably proved that.

But inevitably the more successful teams generally are then the more money they have to spend. This it itself continues the circle. The players at Spurs have to believe that the club will become highly successful or when the opportunity arises they may wish to move for both the above reasons. Sad as a fan, but realistic I guess.

I would argue Vardy proves the opposite, he took the safe option for the same money (contract extension), when most would assume Leicester will have less title prospects than the goons next season, although you never know with them! Same with Troy Deeney. As much as we would like to believe otherwise money is king.

If Schneiderlin was all about winning trophies and money didn't matter Utd wouldn't have had to treble their wages.

We will have to start matching these wage bills when the new stadium comes in, no doubt about it.

Not worried about Dier interest at all. As with every other player we want to keep, they don't go unless they enter the last 2 years of their contract and refuse to sign a new one, or we get offered a world record fee. Those two factors are unlikely to occur anytime soon so Mourinho and Man U can fuck off.

I used to admire Manchester United in fergie years, they ran there club well had a philosophy but now they have become like their noisy neighbours down the road and those plastic mugs Chelsea. They lack any class what so ever. And I detest mourinho. Dier has far to much class to join those mancs
