Why do recognised ITK's choose to use The Goat? Most appear happy to provide info good or bad so why stay anonymous? Are the Goat ITK's people who don't post ITK under their own name?

Part of it is probably to not get hounded for info.

The other part is simply to remain anonymous

Basically he agrees a deal, shakes hands on it. The contracts are drawn up, the player moves his family out of their home etc, then at the very last minute levy says it's off unless they accept his new terms, which are much more favourable to him and not what was agreed.

Not sure if serious or a joke.

Completely serous. That's how he rolls. As Edmonton on coys has often said, DL doesn't start negotiating until he's shaken hands and the contracts have been drawn up.

If it was as simple as that it would be a simple matter for them to sue him. Why haven't they?

Yes really. Established ITK dismisses info as bollocks because its not what he heard. Saying "I haven't heard that" would be different, but lets be honest, dragon is the same as any other ITK in that they don't hear everything and they aren't right about everything.

If The Goat posts something, it's because we know who the source is, we've done our best to verify it and a lot goes on behind the scenes to check stuff out in as far as we can. So there's no anonymous sources and (exceptional circumstances not withstanding) The Goat does not just post info from people who we can't check out.

But, but, but .......I don't like what the nasty old Goat said, therefore I choose not to believe a word of it.

Pinch of salt, of course, but often a grain of truth in most ITK.....

Asked my guy if there was any truth to the Goats rumours and he hasn't heard anything. about them falling out. A couple of things he did say though was that most managers get frustrated at this time of year because they know that what happens now(or indeed doesn't) could effectively get them sacked in a few months time.

On Levy.

He just laughed and said flip a coin. Some agents/chairmen hate dealing with him, while others relish the challenge, and know squeezing every last penny out of the deal is an achievement. He said believe it or not Levy is a very straight shooter, he may move the goal posts, but he will make it very very clear he is doing so and why. He then went on to tell me a story about Doug Ellis telling a player he had gotten a bid from United and it had been accepted, and did he want to go. Of course was the answer so he was told to get his stuff and he would be flying out to Spain where United were having a pre season training camp. For the next hour he has been giving it large in the dressing room, " see ya later lads I'm off to conquer the world" etc. Gone home told all the family they were moving up north, packed his stuff and jumped on the plane to Spain. Where he was met at the airport by representatives of Oxford United.
Any way he has got straight on the phone to Deadly, and Doug has told him quite clearly his future was not at Villa and Oxford were offering the most money, so that's where he was going.

I dont have the business accumen that a lot of you appear to have, but what does stand out..........is DL's re trade responsible for the lack of some of the signings we all thought was coming to the lane?

why hasn't he been sued then baz?

I'm guessing because levy doesn't renegotiate price but payment structure.
We'll give you £10m but over the course of the players contract.
Also £2m will be dependant on him making 50 apearences.
We also want to pay you in dollars etc...

Id have a guess at probably, but it's also likely to be responsible for the quality of squad we now have for a ridiculously low net spend.
Hell of a lot of people seem happy to criticise him for the deals that don't happen, but conveniently forget about the ones that do.

Sue for what? No rule against changing your mind.

Sue for breach of contract, damages, the works.

A contract exists as soon as the parties agree it does. The written contract is simply post-fact evidence.

If one party then refuses to honour that agreement without legally solid reason before the document is signed, they are in breach and can be sued.

It might seem clever to strong arm your way to favourable deals, but it's a damaging strategy in the long term. I don't suppose there are many Chairmen that clubs would prefer not to deal with more than Levy. I'd imagine that we've lost out on a number of signings because Levy has this overwhelming need to wring every ounce out of every deal. I can see Poch getting sick of it at some point if we keep missing out on the players he wants.

I just think Levy is one of those Marmite characters - (Yankspur you won't get that so Google it) ;)
