I think I would prefer Janssen, I believe he is hungry and on a upward trajectory.

Agreed. I think Janssen fits the Spurs profile much better. I also think he'd be a bit more understanding that Kane will still be ahead of him but he will be essential for rotation. He'd be a better Kane rotation than Bats imo.

Guys (and i'm picking on nobody in particular here)

Regarding posts that begin by saying or include the words "reports that......." don't belong in here, will be deleted and an immediate investigation into the source will begin.

If that source is Twitter then god help your ringpiece, you can bet everything you got that'll be your last post in here.

If there's news, quote the source and also, consider posting it in the players thread instead.

I can't remember the politics any more so I'm not getting involved, but there is ITK on Wanyama on FTL from a decent source

If Janssen and Wanyama happen this week, that would likely be all our incoming business done by early June. That would really be giving Poch his so desired settled pre-season (Euros and Olympics aside)

FWIW I've heard that Koeman has personally asked for VW to be taken to Everton with him. Everton are going to splash the cash in a big way apparently too which may throw a spanner in the works some what.
doesnt mean he would go though.
He has worked under both managers but one can offer CL

I hope not. Wanyama makes for decent Dier cover... but sorting cover for Dembele is even more important than that.

Can't see him going there. He wants to play CL so unless they offer a ludicrous amount of money then they're no competition for us.

I genuinely don't think this is seen as a priority, I can see Poch considering Alli and Bentaleb/Mason as options to cover Dembele if we can't get a deal the right option there (such as Bazoer). I think pure DM and Kane backup are the priorities, which Janssen and Wanyama would cover well. Then I think the next priority is a pacey attack option, with box to box MF and CB simply penciled in as other potential areas of improvement.

That would be huge mistake.

In a straight fight we'd beat Everton out, but with CL and Poch as well you'd be very surprised if they got him ahead of us

Everton have a lot of money to throw at Wanyama,

Promises to Koeman, New shareholder, Stones on the way out? Hates a Poch pre season

Could push his transfer fee and wages up.

Which could make it less attractive for us

McCarthy anyone?:D

Just to clarify the spanner in the works comment. I meant if Everton do something silly like offer soton £25 million then we won't match that offer.

Just like converting Dier was last season...

I'd like a complete midfielder, but they are not easy to find or cheap, and I'd rather we had a legit DM in first. I've also noticed a lot of people consider certain box to boxers as DMs when really they are mainly just not averse to putting tackles in. Someone like Xhaka for example puts himself about but lacks the less obvious traits like defensive positioning and threat detection that a specialist DM brings, which IMO is more important to us in the CM2 than passing, due to our playmakers in advance positions like Eriksen and Lamela.

Dembele was statistically the best all round midfielder in Europe last season, it would be incredibly hard to sign someone that can displace him for enough games to continue their development. I'd like one in for sure (Bazoer looks great), but I think this is one that will come after a few outs and the two key positions mentioned above coming in.

Training Alli to play the CM2 in Dembele's absence is also likely to be of interest to Poch who has stated before he would like the option to play 2 up front.
