I'm maintaining a positive outlook on this. At least we are/were trying to bring in a player that was exactly what we needed. I'm going to assume since JJ said it had been worked on for sometime, so was obviously a specific priority, which means there's nothing to say we won't move to secure another equally fitting target. The fact we're even looking suggests we have identified that there's a gap there that does need filling.

Targets apparently remain
Right Back
Attacking Midfieler
Wide Forward/Striker

Pereira and Balde ruled out for RB and WF/CF, but so long as we continue and secure players of the right calibre for those spots, I'm not too hung up on the actual individual. Given we know the constraints we work under will always leave us at risk of losing out during transfer head to heads with the Juve's etc of the world, our scouting setup must surely provide more than one option per position.

Don't think the 'We ran out of time' excuse is going to go down too well if we don't land a decent signing this time around.

Just trying to clarify:

ITK this window has pointed towards wanting 3 players in (our primary targets), a wide player, a CAM and a RB. Alongside
reserve GK.

Until this morning the information being given to us was that these 3 primary targets hadn't changed.

The ITK has led us to believe, whether by telling us or us just making assumptions, that these 3 primary targets were:

Wide player: Balde
CAM: Barkley
RB: Pereira.

We have now learned that that 2 of these 3, Balde and Pereira, are no goes and that Barkley is moving at snails pace with both Everton and Spurs being blamed due to both trying their own brinkmanship.

Am I right in thinking this is a fair assumption of the ITK so far?
It's not good news to be fair and looks like we may have to move onto other targets of which the quality may not be the same.
Let's hope the deals can be resurrected again who knows but that is why no one should build their hopes up on our transfer windows.

What's all the fuss about? With what has been said about his attitute, seems like another Balotelli to me. We have a level headed group, we'd be better off keeping it that way.

What are the other alternatives to Balde apart from Josh King?
I'm pretty sure that more than one piece of ITK this window has said that we have a Premier League back up in mind (I apologise if I have that wrong and will delete if so..), looking at ages, who would be attainable, goals scored (performances last year), style of play... there really doesn't seem to be that many 'options' other than Josh king...maybe Demarai Gray....

Yeah - i didn't say good options.

Am assuming player rejected us for Juve. If then , fuck him. But it's high time we buy the RB & tie up Barkley deal quickly.

Last 2 years we've been looking for this balde type player and ended up with njie and nkoudou, doesn't really give me any confidence that this year will be any different or that our scouting is anything other than shite!!

Will be more than happy with Josh King.

It is very vital point of view. I am surprised actually at Pochettino. Has he completely stopped evaluating the personalities and mentalities of prospects?

Well I missed the ITK from last night so not too fussed.

#BaldiemissesoutonBalde

Still would be happy with just Barkley and a right back tbh. The wing forward would be a bonus. Although given I think we'll play 3 at the back in a number of games (which would allow the right centre back to cover KWP if he plays) we may not need another wide forward and could possibly live without another right back. Our biggest issue to fill imo is when Eriksen doesn't play we don't have a suitable replacement. That's where I think we need to sort the Barkley deal.

Can't see anything anywhere about Juve definitely getting him, or even a big being made so who knows.
As jj says the press are miles behind, looks like we've agreed with lazio and his agent has gone to juve or another club and said if you don't move asap then he's going to Spurs and that's exactly what they've done!

Appreciate all itk's. JJ and Trix, and the whore dovakin is a legend already. Meltdowns are to be expected when we are getting blow by blow accounts. We have Gards wearing his heart on his sleeve when things go wrong. This is better than box office. I believe lessons are being learnt, and we certainly will not be disappointed come end of the window.

Yeah looks like Juve hoped to get him on a free next season but we forced their hand. Nothing we could of done really if that's the case.
