Red cabbage in Dutch is rode.

Sebastian Rode would be an interesting player and would fit the mold of what we are looking for in the midfield.

Thought the thinking had been that he would be Schweinsteiger's replacement though.

Not saying it's not McCarthy, but if it was then who would the other cabbage have been from same grocer?

Well, maybe McCarthy ISN'T one of the cabbages. Huh, what a weird sentence.

No because Alderweireld wasn't one of the cabbages so it doesn't need to relate to him. In fact I think the new hint makes it much less likely it's Suarez.

The hint just said that with Toby signing one of the cabbages is less likely, which probably means one of the cabbages was a defender I would assume.

Just a thought........ It could be McCarthy and Mirallas.

But the reason we wont get Mirallas now is because he is from Belgium. Maybe Poch doesnt want more than 4 in the first team ... Or could be due to the home grown quota as well. :cautious:

Rob said even after knowing the answer he found it difficult to tie them with the cryptic. May be cabbage has no relevance. Two Cabbage & the grocer just denotes 2 player from same club/country/agent where one player looks smaller than other

I believe its players from either Monaco or Barca.

Atleast going by reports, CBs we had showed some interest were Abdennour and Marc Bartra.
If it is former, the second cabbage IMO is Moutinho (who is smaller cabbage).

If it is Bartra, then it could be Sergi Roberto.

Also, the mystery top class player could be Pedro. There are lot of big clubs in for him, If they get out of the way, may be we may have a chance. I remember earlier in the window, there was a ITK around a 'Spanish winger'.So kind of ties in.....sort of...:cautious::rolleyes:

Llorente all day over Austin.

We also desperately need pace.

Why would Llorente be the success that Soldado wasn't?

Austin scored 35 goals in 66 appearances in a piss poor QPR side and 18 PL goals in 35 appearances. Llorente and Soldado combined wouldn't net that.

What the big deal is with Llorente is beyond me, he's thirty years old and his best days are far behind him. Austin is just twenty six, is a proven PL scorer and has pace.

According to yesterday Bild - Bayer Leverkusen are very interested in BVB's Sven Bender. With Lars Bender already in team & Kramer coming back from loan - if the report is true why would they need Sven ?

Is it because of one of Kramer or Lars is leaving ?
If Kramer is highly unlikely, so is it Lars we are looking at ?

McCarthy & Evans?

My rationale is that JJ rated a post winner that was specifically talking about McCarthy's qualities and being Irish.

One cabbage wont happen because we signed Toby. Toby is a CB & so is Evans.

Evans is also Irish so links to McCarthy above. I know they come from different parts (NI & Republic) but both Irish.

We were linked to Evans a few times towards end of season and beginning of the window

You get banned from there if you don't salute Prof everytime he farts.......its kind of a cross between prison and living in North Korea.

I swear I heard him referred to as Our Dear Leader....:meh:

(I think I just broke CCC subsection 5, paragraph 2 clause 86 with that comment
)

Heh, I got banned over there because I said I could easily imagine Archway setting their own steelworks alight, I didn't accuse them of it, just said I could imagine it. It was instaban and then some snide email asking why I thought I was above the rules, apparently having an opinion is a banworthy offence.

Do they share the same agent? Although I agree, Evans would of been the joke cabbage (rightly IMO),.,and we jumped at the chance when we got the signal for TA!!

Bacon and Cabbage is also a popular meal in Ireland. Slim link sure but I guess it fits. I think McCarthy and Evans is a good shout. Evans would also fit into Rob(or one of the other guys can't remember) saying one of them would be disappointing.
