ill put this here as well

the_rocket on ftl:
Heard some gossip from someone who knows a director at Spurs the other day. It won't be announced yet (guessing there are lots of legal thugs which need to be finalised, but apparently we think we have Wembley for the season we need it, Chelsea have it the next 2 seasons!
grahamroberts(pretty sure this is the same grahamroberts who was itk in the old days): I heard very similar
PM'd a few on here the other day. Chavs are nowhere near ready to compete with us (from a timing perspectve).

I'm definitely liking the fact we are actively chasing the much needed CF, and have more than one target.
Also, following the success of Alli this summer, but bought in Jan, I'm very happy we are looking at more of the same.
Succession planning.
Henry from Walsall would possibly be one, and I wonder if Dembele from Fulham would be another. Out of contract in the summer, and I'm sure Fulham would rather deal with someone who's leave him there till the summer. Although, would that be more of a pre contract than buy and loan back.

Not sure the list is as long as being mentioned, well as far as players we are seriously looking at purchasing in January is concerned at least. Many players have been looked at but from what I hear as things stand there are only 3 in actual contention.

As I have said previous I think SB is the most likely signing we will make this window(but that is down to how stupid Peace is). We know CF is an issue, and we will certainly be trying to bring one in, BUT it has to be the right one otherwise MP would rather leave it..

Suicidal if that is the case (would rather leave it). Believe if not SB, one will definitely come in. If they still want 23m or close pay it please and back the manager.

I do think a 2nd choice striker is important, but I agree with Poch in only finding a suitable striker or nothing. Not only is an incomer a financial investment, but a training investment and one which will drain Poch's time in incorporating. I think it far better to just forge ahead with what's available rather than take the detriments if we don't get a guy Poch thinks will be useful.

Granted, I'm of the opinion that the lack of a backup striker is not what's keeping us from the top spot anyway, so that's worth mentioning as a disclaimer to my opinion. Furthermore, I think we're on an upward trajectory in terms of consistency, both offensively and defensively. As such, I think the risks are even less worth it without finding a player who can assuredly be a valuable asset.

I repeat it is absolute madness to go into second half of the season with one striker is not an option! Not even for a debate.

Regarding the stadium (I've put it in the stadium thread too). Hertyid on coys:

"Hello chaps just heard similar - Wembley without top tier apparently, circa 50k."

Not sure I'd want berahino. The squad harmony seems as good as I've ever known it and the playing side of buying a player is only half the risk as far as I'm concerned.

Whoever comes in needs to be a likeable character too. We don't need another adebayor on our hands. Someone good enough but needs to understand they are 2nd choice for now and the foreseeable

I think a new start is exactly what SB needs. Poch will get him firing I'm sure. With this said though, I'd still prefer we bring in a beast who can cover for Kane properly / push him for a place.

Why would wages be an issue for an 18 year old?
His age would be the very reason. If he is genuinely being looked at by top clubs then he and his agent will be seeing £ signs galore whereas we have a particular structure we adhere to which will not involve paying 18 year olds huge salaries.

Regarding Berahino being the right fit in terms of personality, you have to remember he will be on very good terms with a number of our young English players, so he will know what is required of them by the manager, and equally they will know whether he's a good fit.

We should aim high. Given the tribulations of Chelsea, Man Utd and Liverpool this term and the inconsistency shown by Man City and Arsenal, Spurs really have a window to make a mark on the league. We are not the best team at the moment but some shrewd business in January (a competent CF and perhaps DM as backups to Kane and Dier) and luck with player fitness could see us challenge for the top spot come the end of the season.

Whilst we may not have established stars as we have in the past, we have such a solid team with a lot of desire that it is entirely possible. I think we all see the January window when we signed Louis Saha as one of the biggest missed opportunities to challenge for the top spot and whilst perhaps not looking quite as spectacular, our team is undoubtedly talented and clicking into place. If we can keep Kane fit or have a decent alternative who can score it's not inconceivable that we could achieve something beyond early expectations.

I think the kid has the same mood spectrum as Rose tbh. Had a bad feeling about him from the get-go and still think he'll upset our harmony.

Maybe the dreary Midlands have made him so....

Anyway, if we get him, Poch is the ideal guy to set him straight.

Same here i would love us to bring 1/2 in for a second half of the season push as this season its wide open.
But must confess Im not expecting much or anything to happen in the way of incomings, possible outgoings to free up wages would seem the most likely.
I actually think we might have more chance of challenging for the league this time rather than under Harry as imo this team is better balanced and focused, while the league this time round is more open than i Can ever remember in Premier league history.
