Well if we are looking at Llorente we could well be looking at bringing Shearer out of retirement. Probably would offer us more!

So no to Martins, yes to Gomes. Pretty depressing start to the day! Gomes must also mean Barkley is definitely not happening. Even more depressing! Hopefully there's someone else other than Gray on the cards in a forward position.

ITK suggesting what we pretty much though; that is if Barkley is out for a few months buying him now won't help us this season and will be a big risk. Better to wait for Barkley until January

While I don't think either awful, I also don't think Llorente or Gomes are particularly wonderful signings.

It would be though a rather strange culmination of long window of scouting, negotiating and waiting... Almost like our plan, well, hasn't gone to plan...

So you're saying a target man and works up winner who, still at 32, has scored goals in top leagues his whole career (including 15 in our league last season) would not improve our attacking depth?

Llorente wouldn't exactly get me off my seat as a signing but it's madness to suggest we are above having him as a second choice striker. Utter madness.

Could Levy be doing a Chelsea to Chelsea? They bid £25M for Barkley when it seems clear he has no interest them....maybe we're just muddying waters for them on Llorente ?

I think that jj not pooh poohing a player doesn't mean that much, if he did that to all the questions and then didn't do it to someone specific it may give the game away.
