I think the fact he changed his mind would indicate that he does. Wouldn't surprise me if this is a reaction to the Gomes door closing from Barca.

Is that really the best we can hope for? That our best players don't leave.

It's not the best we can hope for but at the start of the window many thought Barca might turn to Eriksen, that Dier was of to United, that Rose was off to United (or maybe City), that Deli had bad body language and was off elsewhere for silly money.

So whilst I understand that many wanted more than this it could have been significantly worse - throw in Sanchez, Aurier and the next John Stones and perhaps it's not quite as grim as it might have been.
