Still hoping the WF the ITKs seemed sure was signing will be announced with Llorente. Cant see the delay otherwise.

I don't get it. Surely we would rather have him doing his recovery with us, taking time to gel with the squad? Seems weird to leave him there for 6 months for no real benefit.

Signing players EARLY?! Why bother with that more expensive option?

Leave it to the last minute (when most of the manager's top targets on the magical 'list' have already moved or we've failed to convince them to come), pack a metaphorical wheelbarrow with money and desperately search for a player that could make a huge difference to the club's success in a mad panic or sit in your office waiting by a dodgy fax machine in the hope that an agent rings you and offers you someone good because it happened like twice before.

Then in the aftermath release that we tried to get Maradonapeledinho, but he wanted too much money and 'we ran out of time', then make excuses. Repeat ad finitum.

At least I only read something along the lines of "not doing a Leeds" only once this year.

Sanchez and Aurier are cracking signings, as is Foyth potentially. The thing is, we need a real game changer as we didn't really adequately replace the one we lost (which WILL be at least either a very expensive risk or would need to possibly be a multiple of our current transfer record), we need another Bale, like we needed a new Berbatov (and eventually kind of fluked Kane in some ways...thank God!), like we needed a new Modric (and still do IMO). We haven't gotten that bums off seat game-changer a la Ginola/Bale that we need.

We're getting SO CLOSE. That's why it gets even more frustrating...when you add the fact that other teams are spending bucketloads (almost in fear of us) and in the meantime we're paying comparative peanuts in wages and lots of our players are in high demand...well it's a critical time in the evolution of 'the Project'.

I really hope the manager has gotten what he wanted from the board, far too many haven't IMO.

Let's kick on and start winning some games!

Possibly a fantastic move from Levy. Poor squad = poor performances = dent in Poch's reputation = Poch going nowhere for another few seasons! Genius.

Okay with our window. I think we replaced some players with marginally better players, but they have to settle into the new team/league so ends up about par for this season perhaps. Better for next season as long as the team performs well so our other main players don't get unhappy. Definitely a bit bemused about the various sounds that were being made by the ITKs regarding pace and some other things, maybe we'll get a few snippets, maybe we won't.

Actually was looking forward to seeing Andre Gomes coming in, felt he seemed like a cultured and cerebral player and was interested to see what he could add to us.

So I really do get the contention that just one more signing would have taken us from a decent window to a great window, but if we pull off Barkley this January for less money and when he's finally match fit instead of paying extra now for no added depth would you really be that much happier?

*If* the deadline drama turns out being true and we snag Barkley for less in 4 months time, I think it was a stroke of genius at the last minute by Levy at the deadline--even if it means we didn't sign anyone at the end. I know that doesn't necessarily satisfy what we need at this very moment, but I think it might be better in the long run.

I guess it is the way you look at it. Has Walker really been upgraded? Is Llorente really a "genuine backup" to Harry or maybe a slightly better option than an awful Jenson who we couldn't get rid of? As for CB, yes probably better cover but still cover, but I think we would all agree it was not an area of main concern for us. So I appreciate this is your view of the window. But not the majority on the site.

Aurier is a better player than Walker - he is also younger. The only debate is about how he adapts to the Premiership and the concern about his dubious past.

Llorente is twice the player Janssen is, he is a really good player and I'm delighted we signed him.

I understand people's anger at not signing a pacey winger as this is obviously an area that would improve us. I'm disappointed as well but try to remain positive. I remember this time last year, the mood in here was even more depressing yet we went on to challenge for the title and finished higher than the mega rich clubs that spent hundreds of millions of pounds. We did so by playing open, attractive, free scoring football with the same attacking players we have now.

Time will tell if that happens again this season but what the last few years have proved is that spending millions doesn't guarantee success. Although I don't agree with all the decisions that our club make, I'm proud of the way we are run (compared to moneybags clubs that are ruining the game) and proud with how we have competed on an uneven playing field.

The problem for some on here is, they take the ITK as gospel and their expectations rise on the word of some poster on a football forum. It's exciting getting bits and pieces of info but the golden rule is always take it with a bucket of salt.

Well, the window is now closed and I now can revert to my normal life. I am not disappointed mainly due to the fact that pre season I wasn't expecting any major signings due mainly to Stadium build (I know they say that they are separate budgets or pots) etc. I had convinced myself that we would be promoting the youth where people like KWP and Onomah would step up. That being said, if we were to sign anyone I would look on it as a bonus. We sold walker and replaced him with someone better in my opinion. We signed Sanchez someone I had hoped we would have signed a year ago but didn't think we had a chance. He is a quality signing and people on here who dont know, will be pleasantly surprised. I am not going on about pace and the likes as I really believe that Nkoudou will come good (ha ha you say). Get Llorente now and there should be competition to give Jensen a kick up the ass. After last year I decided to keep my expectations on the level, despite the daily quality ITK information posted. Therefore I am neither stressed or disappointed with who we did or did not buy. Thanks for the ride ITKs, @Hercules @Trix @JJetset @dovahkiin @Grey Fox @The Goat and anyother ITK I may have missed. @Archibald&Crooks @Rob and @Stoof top top moderating, thanks. $25 Canadian gone to the pot
