Regardless of whether you think our squad is currently strong, whether it’s DL being tight/stubborn or if it’s Poch wishing to promote more youth (as suggested by @ValenciaYid), it’s naive to think that this summer won’t have made some of our better players seriously consider whether Spurs’ ambitions match their own.

Despite previous gossip that Eriksen and Dele have extended, I’m not expecting any significant contract extensions to be announced soon, as I don’t know why the likes of Eriksen in particular would want to commit to us. They certainly wouldn’t be wise to sign new contracts while the European window is still open.

I'm feeling sadly smug:cry:. Now I'm genuinely hoping the BSoDL are right and the squad improves greatly, and the club's who spent money have signed mainly duds, or at least players who will take ages to acclimatise to the prem. Fuck it, this is our season, we'll definately win something. COYS

I can hardly see this being his preferred plan of action, more likely it got to a week ago and Levy went - we've 'tried' but can't do a deal for A,B and C...but we can get you Sissoko MKII on deadline day....

And Mauricio went, might as well promote someone from the U23s to a squad place instead...
That's what I meant to be honest. You've put it better than I did.

And when Barca/Real/Bayern come in with a £75+ million offer for Eriksen next week ???

What's your point? He still has 2 years left on his contract.
Contracts are issued like confetti now. As I said pay rise for player and club protecting value by continually extending contract length.

None of you would've defended no players coming in at the start of the window. It's basically Stockholm Syndrome.

Eriksen takes a sip of his sexy Danish Coffee and is content with his lot, I don’t want to play with the De Bruyne’s and Modric’s of the world...

Like fuck etc...

Earlier in the week I mentioned that maybe it wasnt DL who didnt want to spend, I was also told that MP wants to promote/use more of the youth….

Also posted some quotes from the man himself saying the exact same thing, but people still think he's going to go full on Klopp based on the semantics of the word "brave".

Sorry it’s really not.

To sign a player who is better than what we have in our first 11 is really tricky. Granted there are players out there, but the price, talent and profile might not be right.

I don’t look at any other clubs and think I really wished we’d signed that player. Keita is perhaps the only one.

Are Manchester United and Arsenal any stronger? Would any of the Arsenal signings get in our first team? Who out there would improve City without spending hundreds of millions?

We needed 3 players before this window: A central midfielder who could control the tempo, an attacking midfielder and perhaps another forward.

If we can’t sign the players Pochettino wants then I rather we didn’t bother and just promote the youth team players.

There are at least 6 players signed in the prem that would improve our starting 11 imo and a further 3 or so that would improve our squad options.

I just don't but the story that it has been a difficult window to get good deals across the line...you just had to be willing to cough up the financials...

Two down and however many more of you want to dip your toe in the water to go

Something I forgot to mention.

ITK Bashing.

We saw it surfacing again yesterday. So if you think "oooh it's the last day, I'll indulge myself with a spot of bashing", don't. If you do, you'll find yourself out. For good.

And this sarcastic bringing up of previous ITK needs to stop too. So while it isn't strictly what we'd call ITK abuse, it isn't necessary, it isn't funny and it pisses me off. Please give it a rest.

Poch made it very clear back in May that we needed to bring new players in to mprove the squad. If he is not wanting to spend money at this stage it's presumably because he doesn't want the players he is being offered, I really can't see him turning up his nose at any of his targets.
Or just like the rest of the market he has seen and been surprised by developments and chosen to look at other strategies.... Or maybe not. Few if any on here know what he, baldy or anyone else in the transfer committee really feel about it all.

My point being that there is nothing to suggest he has signed a new deal. Even if he had, he (and others) are probably looking at our dealings and eying up the next two weeks as a way out.

We'll win fuck all. We fell short at the end of last season. We needed to add to our first team/squad

Some of you guys do realise that it's not impossible that poch has said I want players from this list or don't bother ?
I'm neither a bsodl or a naysayer but it's been a thought in my mind for a few weeks now.
I reckon with poch it's this or nowt I'll promote from our expansive academy.

I was happy with the promote from the academy when we were a mid table team. We are now a regular top 4 team and therefore proper investment is needed in quality players to stay there. Arsenal and Chelsea are in disarray at the moment and now was the time to really kick on backed by extra revenue from the new stadium.

Shame DL has to date failed to secure naming rights on the new stadium to assist with the stadium financing. thing might then be different in financing the playing side rather than panicking to buy a Championship player
