Why would loans with an obligation to buy be any less complicated - just the paperwork? Or is it that there's an agreed fee but we'd still have to negotiate personal terms with the player down the line?

Or, as mad as it sounds, maybe we quite literally don’t have the cash flow at the second to outlay on a serious signing without incomings first? I can’t see how that could be the case but perhaps we’ve had to chuck cash at the stadium to get it finished in time? A loan with agreed option could delay the outgoing fee for a year, and we could hopefully sell off a player or two to Europe by the end of the month. Just a thought. Not expecting anything to happen at this stage.

"Mess around and fail to get any of Poch's targets then throw any opportunistic last-minute crap at him hoping he reluctantly accepts one of them"

I'm sure Donna will spin that appropriately :p

Think we can all agree it’s best if Donna doesn’t say anything after her ridiculous interview a couple of weeks ago.

IF we pull a phoenix from the flames lads, let's hope it's cause for celebrations rather than commiserations.
I still say too late. In all the years lurking here and then becoming a poster here, have I ever felt so deflated with no hope than I do today in regards to Spurs dealings. Very flat.

:(

No doubt when the window closes Donna will ask Poch to state how wonderfully comfortable he is with the state of affairs and how brave we've been to be the only top club in the whole of bloody Europe to buy nobody, absolutely nobody. What absolute ridiculous arrogance at the very top of our club. Poch being the top bloke he is will try his hardest this year, maybe even one more year after that then move to a club where the chairman actually gives him all the top tools to win trophies.

Is there a thread we can use thats the real life equivalent to screaming into a pillow? I could really do with something like that right now.

That's about the size of it I would say. My worry when there was all this talk of Levy giving Poch assurances and backing him with the signings he wanted was whether Levy would be able to adapt and change his modus operandi even if he wanted to. It seems like that question has been emphatically answered however much anyone tries to spin it otherwise.

Poch is a very honest guy, who wears his heart of his sleeve at time.

I think it will be abundantly clear how he is feeling when he is interviewed shortly.

What is the point of a loan with an obligation to buy? If the purchase is obligated then why not skip the loan and just buy straight away, or does the initial loan make for quicker deadline day paperwork?
I'd think loans with options to buy are perfect for us...We have money, but are terrified of the risk of players that don't step up stuck on the wage bill (Sissoko)...

Not really sure what Herc is trying to say, but if the chairman has broken any promises to the manager I expect we will find out about it soon

We have failed him this window - simple as that.

He has given Levy Champions League football and a title challenging team, as well as his loyalty when he could have left for Madrid, and it's been thrown back in his face.

He could only leave for Madrid if they wanted him. Is there any evidence they did?

If this helps us bring in quality additions then loans would be ideal, however my point was more in response to the ITK mention of loans with "obligations" to buy. Obligation is very different to "option" to buy.
