Is it ok to go off topic and talk about the ITK?
Do we think Val was saying that we'll be promoting youth players, or that the 'meh' players that Hercules mentioned are young players like the Norwegian kid?
The former.

I’m no accountant but it is perplexing that we are not only outspent regularly by the other 5 of the top 6 (which is understandable with their greater income) but we get outspent in terms of net spend by a lot of other clubs in the league. Especially when itk points to money being available and the stadium being ringfenced.

Never mind it’s not like we haven’t been here before COYS

Because the money they're spending on transfer is going into our wage bill, which is bigger than everyone out of that top 6 and lets us keep our existing talent who are far better than that at those clubs. Not to mention the stadium. Transfer fees themselves are not the biggest chunk of the spending.

Not quite sure the 'wait till the window closes before judgement' brigade are so keen to pat Levy on the back for his unfinished stadium.

I'm sure Levy has smashed the stadium out the park but he and the transfer committee have failed this window.

It'll be fine if we get off to a decent start to the season. This will simmer down by the time mid September hits
It's the start of the season I am very concerned about. Not the lack of new signings, but the fact that we had so many starters in the World Cup semi finals.
I feel this will hurt us at some point in the season.

No. He most likely meant using our own youth which means Amos and whoever else is good enough.

Everyone who claims we don't have money can fuck off. We are the 11th richest club in the world. Levy's salary was doubled last year. We've fucking got money.
This is so boring.

We're the 11th most valuable, and it's mainly based on our assets (high value players, high value new stadium, debts owed to us by others), and a part of that is our liquid but only a part. And our liquid is far less than those sides who each have over a decade worth of CL and, in some cases, over 2 decades. We may now be getting a big slice of TV money, but we are massively playing catch up. Then factor in that our global brand still generates a fraction of all the other top 6.

As for Levy's salary being doubled, actually no, he just received piled up bonuses from previous years on top of his basic. And oh, shock horror, MD of giant international corporation is paid a lot.

We have money, the clubs who are after players who are good enough for us have much more money, the players going for fees that are in our current ball park are nowhere near good enough for us. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground, or if there is it's only in a few circumstances. Grealish might have represented that, it turned out not. Shaquiri might have represented that (though lord knows what his salary is when the fee was so cheap), but then we are overstocked with AMs who are at least as good if not better and mcuh more in tune with Pochettino's work rate requirements.

Just because Mr Bob owns a house worth £300,000, he still needs to have an income (not just turnover) which allows him to spend money on food. He can't offer Tesco a flower from his garden in return for a piece of bread, it doesn't work like that. Just because we are valued very highly and we are balance sheet rich, it in no way means we are cash rich and the fact that nobody gets this is deeply, deeply upsetting.

Ok, so we're actually not signing anybody, at all? No last minute swoop, no panic buy, not even a solitary loan signing?

Worst Christmas ever.

Levy isn't a moron, Newcastle and Spam got their message across quite well who they were angry with, think Spurs fans including yourself are likewise capable.

It will be humiliating if our fans protest at our opening game in the new stadium because we didn't make a signing. People are bothered now that we're a laughing stock because we haven't signed anyone.

Where did I say that? If the season doesn't go well it will progress to that though.

Then just three short weeks of panic about who we might sell abroad. :)

All the talk about youth is all well and good, but I still think Sissoko will be playing there pretty regularly this season. Which is incredibly frustrating.
