Positive news from the goat yesterday. I think two players coming in is about the best we can expect.

Assuming one is Holtby, we then have to hope that the other is a striker. Having said that its clear we're also looking at a central midfielder. Is it too much to ask to get Holtby, Diame and a striker?

That's what I'm expecting.
A lot of the ITK's were in unison in suggesting 2 players coming in, but none would confirm too much if that 2 was including, or as well as, Holtby.
The two bits of ITK last night suggesting we are still looking to go in for Diame, and that we are seriosuly looking at Hooper and Negredo, makes me think it is indeed 2 plus Holtby.
No need for a bidding war for Diame, only his release clause will get the deal done, as W.Ham don't want to sell, so will not haggle. But luckily, at £3.5m it's not as if it is expensive. Similar setup to Dembele, just bang the money in and get it done quickly.
I reckon Levy will aim for Negredo first, as he seems more of a crowd pleaser in terms of stature and prestige being an Spanish international and from a better league etc than Hooper. But if he proves too expensive, it'll be a late deal for Hooper, who apparently already has an £8m price tag on his head (though I think Levy will try to get that down), or someone from leftfield like Bony, being touted at 9m euros.
I still haven't ruled out a loan from RM on top of the above, may depend on how many we shift out along the way.

I'm surpised some of senior fringe players, Jenas, Bentley etc haven't been linked with Villa. My father in law is a ST holder, and says that while they have some young talented players, they are just lacking a bit of experience. Surely they wouldn't be too expensive, since Levy would want them off the wage bill. Maybe they'll be thrown into any Celtic deal.

Funtime Fridays are what i long for!!

So The Goat has confirmed that we're definitely looking at Gary Hooper! - am i the only one who feels that this isn't the guy we should be going for. I appreciate that he's taken his chance at Celtic and scored some good goals but only a few years back he was struggling at the likes of Southend and Orient and even at the beginning with S****horpe (where he came good in the end).
Ok, ok you could argue that his story has similarities with the likes of Ian Wright - but i'm just not convinced. The SPL is obviously not as strong as the Premiership and i'm not sure he'd cope with the pace or power.
My gut feel is that he's on a good run with Celtic, they've organised a formation around him to keep him scoring and he'll probably do well for the rest of the season - however in the prem he'd probably get found out quite quickly..........a la Jelevic perhaps!
