Welcome to what is almost our last round-up of the January Transfer Window and we kick off with SC's fact of the day:

Did you know that people with big penises are 87.2% more likely to come up with stupid statistics? Unless of course its in Spurs Chat, in which case replace the word big with small.

It didn't start off too badly when this was slung into the RO.

tottenham have recieved loan offer from Lyon for Corluka until end of season. no bids from anyone since roma but bid was way off.
there are offers for players but told problem is 95% of offers are to loan.
Never a lender a borrower be, unless your name is Dan Levy

Then Storts gave us a view

I hope JJ is right because I'm still being told it's going to be quiet.

One thing, we are definitely looking at Jack Butland from Birmingham in the summer. I know Peanut said that he thinks Krul will be our next 'keeper and I trust his info more than anyone else's so I don't know where this ties in but we want Butland and reckon he's going to be top quality.
Which as i've been saying all along is the likeliest end to this transfer window. Zilch, squat, nada.

Then, the bombshell, in the shape of Ari Gold

Yes or no answers please. Yes, I know no-one would want to pay £35 million.

If Andy Carroll was available and willing, would you want to sign him.

Yes from me.

and then another poster said:

If the price were right , yes, because he could be a useful backup for Adebayor. His hold up play is very good, he occupies defenders' attention to create space for others and his goal-scoring form will return eventually.

ari gold then said:

David:

If you assign your first six words to Daniel Levy and the rest to Harry, that's where we are at. I've heard something happened this weekend and now Carroll is pushing to go in this window.

Maybe Archie will have more for us in the coming days
Come on guys, did you seriously think the transfer window would pass without one of these?

And i'm pretty certain its going to get worse before the window closes!

I got up this morning and found the mrs in the kitchen, cooking one of my socks in the frying pan. "What are you doing?" I asked.

"I'm doing what you asked me to do last night when you came to bed drunk," she replied.

I don't remember asking her to cook my sock :shifty:

What the papers say

The Metro reckon that: Tottenham face a race against time to complete the transfer of Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, with Paris Saint-Germain hoping to sign the 22-year-old in the next few days.

And The Metro also say that: QPR boss Mark Hughes has set his sights on Spurs centre-back Sebastien Bassong in a last-minute spending spree.

And that's it for today, apart from the 20-odd posts i'll be making, asking for donations

WE RELY ON YOU TO DONATE AND HELP KEEP SC RUNNING!
PLEASE PUSH THE BUTTON AND MAKE OUR DAY!
EVERY LITTLE HELPS!

I'm sensing perhaps our defeat to City put pay to any real activity this window.

I know it's possibly not the case, but I think if we felt we were really in the title hunt, we'd have 'gone for it' and spent a bit, but now the powers that be may think 8 points is too great and we've got a good enough side to maintain 3rd.

The one thing you can say about Levy is that he thinks long term nowadays. No more panic buying is needed with this current squad and I wouldn't want him too.

I think we are still in a title race and have no doubt the board do as well but there is limited opportunity in January. I think they were rebuffed by Remy (for now) and that may have been it.

But who knows.

Did you know that 88.6% of statistics are made up!

And if we had beaten them the powers that be would suggest we dont need a new striker!! Cant win for wanting one!:)

less than 40 hours to go and we are still stuck with a few clowns who have nothing to offer us this season. Giovani and Pav have to go before tomorrow night and we need to bring in at minimum a loan signing striker. That shouldnt be difficult.

I agree with you. A loan striker (as a minimum) is very important.

It's funny though - a lot of people (and I don't mean you) are saying that Levy should drop his prices on these guys to just get rid of them. I for one like his stance and wouldn't want us to set any precedents of selling our less-used players (I don't like the term deadwood, as they can be stars at other teams) for much less than they are worth.

Let's just hope the Gio deal goes through, at the very least. Villarreal seem to be keen. He could do well in Spain with more time on the ball. I could see him being a main player in La Liga for a third-place chasing team.

With Pav, who knows. We somehow need to convince a team that he can be the business - just not in the EPL. For example, I think he could do quite well in Italy.

Am i the only one that looks at the talksport story on Hazard and goes:

"I'm leaning towards England" - TICK
"I want to play for a big club, but also one where I will play every week" - TICK
"I want to play at a big club, but I don't want to sit on the bench. It needs to be a club that plays good football." - TICK

Straight away he's said he wants a top club, so that rules out anyone lower than Liverpool.

The he wants to be a starter, so that rules out Man City and potentially Man Utd.

Then you look at who plays the best, and by that i think he means most attractive, football out of the remaining teams and i'd say we're that team.

I just think that he wouldn't be saying those things if he was moving purely for the money, he seems very motivated by playing football, and we can offer him that more than anyone IMO.

That's why i think we should be really pushing through a deal for Nilmar, with Gio going the other way it seems like a feasible deal to push through and it gets us that extra striker we need and in a sense doesn't make us look like we are overloaded in the striker department as Nilmar replaces the outgoing striker Gio.

I would love for this to happen... but, for me, those quotes don't rule out any of the teams in the top 6. It's kind of like blue and bloody yellow - those quotes can be twisted anyway really. It could be argued that any of the top 6 teams play good football, even if WE know that's bollocks.

Also, these clubs, even Liverpool, still are a huge drawcard for players from overseas.

IMO, he would also walk into the Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and (probably) Man U starting XIs.

I've always thought Giovaniwould do well elsewhere. He just isnt cut out for England. Tehgame doesnt suit him, and he doesnt seem to have the determination to make a go off it.
Pav too would be a success in another league. Maybe in France, Germany or Holland. A slightly lesser league in terms of quality. Slower. He has shown flashes at Spurs but again doesnt seem to have the temperment for it.

Those two out and the arrival of Nilmar (if that offer is seriously on the table) would be enough for me over the next two days.

Yeah think you might be... don't get me wrong, I would think most of us would welcome the signing big time, but history has taught us to take stories of signings of that magnitude with a huge wad of salt.

So err... here's hoping, but am doubtful.

Yeh just to clarify i'm not sure if we have much chance of getting Hazard, but i think the quotes from him show that if we went in for him we'd have as much chance as anyone else, the sticking point i imagine would be paying the fee/wages - as with all high profile transfers we're involved in.

That being said we pulled vdV off.
