Just wonder why we arent fighting for Thauvin ? With lamela, lennon and maby Townsend gone Thauvin would be the perfect signing.... Thauvin, Wanyama and Berahino would show that we are fighting.

Would 'twere so, but ...
Agent: would you prefer regular game time and 30,000 per week, or almost never play and 100,000 per week?
Player: mmmmnn. I'd quite like to play.
Agent: oh no, your career will be short. Better build up as much money in the bank as you can. Put it away for a rainy day, eh.
Player: OK. On second thoughts I'll take the hundred grand.
Agent: Very good choice. (Thinks: HeHeHe. Another 400 k for me).

Nice one!

We all have decisions to make in our lives on what jobs we take that involve cash and what we can do to earn that cash. So do footballers. But with athletes (or true competitors) there's more of a dash of pride in there. Not always what I can earn but also what can I achieve? What mark will I make on the game?

Harry Kane has been approached by Man Utd and (from what we have heard) and he's said he wants to stay here and become a Tottenham Hotspur legend. Admittedly he's not your average footballer. But he has pride, guts and wants to compete. And he can do so at Spurs.

Money is important to all of us. And if Berahino is offered more by another club (Man City for example) the immediate inclination might be to go for it. But at a club like City his talent might not be given a chance to shine. And three or four years later, when the time comes for his next contract, he might just be another player, not a rising star. Sinclair is a good example, I think. Cuddicini is another example of wasted talent just taking the money. If Berahino joins a clubs like Spurs he would certainly be given the opportunity to show what he can do. And if he did it well then his next contract might be even bigger than the one he originally signed. Or he might even have shown that he's worthy of a move to a club like Real Madrid. (And we all know what happened with Modric and Bale).

So what's the best move for a player that is approached by a club like Man City offering more money than a club like Tottenham Hotspur - with the possibility that he'll be warming the bench most games if he takes the greater cash offer from City?

More cash in the short term & possibility of unearned trophies or less cash in the short term, more cash in the longer run, and pride in achievements truly earned?

I know which option I would go for...

Pride and self-esteem count for much.

It depends what sort of person Berahino is - and what advice he gets from his agents.

I'm hoping that Berahino is more than just a very talented footballer. I'm hoping he's smart. I'm hoping that he has pride in himself and what he can achieve.

If that's the case then I'm sure we'll see him playing for Tottenham Hotspur in the not too distant future.

Berahino is still failing to excite me at all.

I know he's now the second coming for some as he's the only forward we are linked to but for me he's merely "better than nothing".

Obviously I expect a volley of negative responses and ratings for not conforming
Did Kane excite you before last year? Seems to me our expectations have no basis in reality

Still feel there'll be an extra signing, beyond the highly rumoured CF and CM.
All ITK suggests Ade, Lennon and now very likely Fazio are the planned players to move on, with possibly Carroll in the mix too.
But I can't help feeling Townsend, or now quite possibly Lamela could be at risk, assuming a bid large enough to tempt us comes in.
If Ade, Lennon, Fazio go, we'll get a CF and CM so long as our targets are gettable (individually and on their clubs terms), then of some of the others go for reasonable money, maybe another player in.
Goes against current belief, but does tie in with previous ITK.

My new baby boy was born just over an hour ago and I'm checking this thread!! Come on Levy. Let's get um done. :)
You obviously made a very successful transfer 9 months ago, and we're all proud of you. You deserve to rest on your laurels for a bit.

I'm afraid there are no spare nappies here – they were all used up during the N'jie crisis.

Mate, I have an iPhone that is just under 9 months old. I know this because 9 months ago my old one was spread over the delivery room floor of the hospital after my misses caught me checking the ITK thread just has the doctor shouted push and her having run out of gas and air an hour previously....

Not going to spam the thread tonight (first time), might be a bit wasted, so if anyone can fill me in on the last few hours of the thread would be great.

Given up on the rest. (really hard to type when you can't feel your fingers) love everyone.

Someone had a baby, then checked this thread as soon as he could.
Someone alleged he was gay, which most dismissed.
Someone has been watching porn.
Somewhat confident berahino's happening soon due to hertyid's info in the read-only
Grey Fox should be checking in tomorrow with some info from a source

That's about as deep as I've gone.

JJ is confident on Berahino and an unnamed DM. Greyfox will get some news tomorrow. Big news of the day was the reveal of the cabbages as Evans and Hernandez which saw the thread go into meltdown on Mitchell's black box.
