You're so much better than this sunny. Honestly, if this transfer window has told us one thing it's that only one person wears the transfer trousers at our club and that is our dear leader. It doesn't appear to matter what players the manager wants.

Redknapp has publicly said that he rejected certain strikers though. It can't all be laid at Levy's door. Maybe when your manager spends nearly 50m on three strikers with huge limitations it becomes more dangerous to let him get what he wants.

This is true, and it seems that we have developed a real blind spot when it comes to strikers.

I mean, does anyone actually believe that someone like Jelevic is not good enough or too expensive for us when he was available in January?

I would have thought that he would have been perfect for us, but clearly someone in the club deemed him to be not.

But our set up was based around 1 up front, and he wasn't going to displace Ade was he? Everton have even less strikers than us, so he was always going to be number 1 there.

....I still wonder how we weren't even in for Jelavic given the price he went at. Would have been a perfect stopgap/backup instead of bloody Saha.

Granted he did okay for Everton, but he is mid-twenties, had never played in a major league prior to January and - apart from at Rangers - had never had a 'show-stopping' goalscoring record. His international scoring record is, to put it kindly, crap. Just because he has played well (so far) in Everton's system doesn't mean that he would have for us.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Indeed. But what is true now (only having JD and a kid) was just as true then, albeit we had Ade on loan, but it was through sheer luck that he didn't get injured, and Saha was hardly worth the squad place IMO.

At least if we had bought Jelevic, our bargaining position wouldn't have looked so desparate. i,e, we know you only have one striker, so we're gonna turn the screw on you (as appears to be the case), and for the £6/7 mil that was spent on him, would it have been that much of a disaster if he had just been our back up striker had he not hit the ground running?

because its (usually) not itk. 99% of twitter talk is bs. only tweets allowed to be posted in this thread are from @akqayid and @jetsetyid because they were previously ITK's that posted here but switched to twitter.
there's a separate thread for tweets to be posted in.
