Adebayor isn't the fastest of guys out there, but he's very good with his back to the goal, linking up, and laying off. Not sure his wages are to AVBs liking, but he's a very good player that wants to play for Spurs. Can't necessarily say the same for the Falcao, Higuain, Llorente, Benzema, and Hulk's of the world.

I agree. He was our top goal scorer and top assist maker last season. He does frustrate me in that sometimes he doesn't seem bothered at all but his contribution to the overall team is obvious. We wouldve finished 4th last year with ease last if we had him then given our striking problems. Unless we can get one of those you listed, we have to retain him.

Dude im almost tempted to report you if you apparently think we given 70k to sig

I don't believe it unless we've had this investment. Just a point I was making.

Besides, Bale's on £100k+ isn't he? How much could Llorente want?

It's Levy putting it out there, so he can go into negotiations with his talksport app or a copy of the Fail and say "look, we've got £8.50 left, what striker can we get with that?"

then when they are laughing in our faces DL's like "not really, we're taking Llorente/Falcao/LD NOW!" whack £25m as he backs away to the door with a knife at some random hostage he's just grabbed's throat.

JJ said a few days ago that Ade is "likely" to sign.

Things do change quickly though and maybe AVB doesn't see him fitting the system or thinks their is a better alternative for similar money.

Levy said:
Daniel Levy continued: "We are constantly looking to move the Club forward. It is important that we now look to develop the potential within the squads at all levels, whilst strengthening the First Team in the summer in key positions with players who will become part of the future success of the Club.”

Maybe Ade doesn't fit into this ethos and we are looking at younger options?

I read that AVB and Mourinho's relation broke after their time at Inter.

I can't seem to find the article, but I'm quite sure that's what it said

Not signing Adebayor would be a mistake in my opinion. Why risk money on a unknown quantity when we are able to sign someone who had a very good goals and assists record this season. Assuming AVB plays his 4-3-3, he would work perfectly in the centre with his ability to keep the attacks flowing plus he would also be able to fill in for Lennon if injured. This kind of versatility in a front man is rare. The only question mark for me is I am assuming we will be signing another striker as well, if this striker is seen as the main man will Ade be happy not playing every game.

Adebayor + 1 other striker for me.

Yeah, I would like Adebayor and a younger striker. I mean, Adebayor is a proven goalscorer and we need one of them, we can certainly create chances and Ade will hopefully be here to stick them away.

sort of hope the avb not interested in adebayor is true, the guy is a proper team player and makes us look miles better but some of his finishing really was woeful we simply can't afford to waste the amount of chances he had last season.. this coupled in with the fact he'd also want to be the main man upfront which would cause dressing room problems if we were to sign an up and coming striker who turned out better and thus started more often. not to mention acn.

balancing things up though, i really don't mind whether he we sign him or not.

I like Adebayor but there is some logic there if it's true that Villas-Boas doesn't want him to be his main man. Basically his career would be in Adebayor's hands, which AVB may not be comfortable with given what just happened at Chelsea and Adebayor's history with form/temperamental problems.

That's an interesting way to look at it and might lead one to believe that he'd try for a known striker that he's worked with before.

Adebayor being a bit part player would not work. However with AVB being manager now I think we will definitely be taking the FA Cup and more importantly the Europa League extremely seriously. We are talking about the possibility of what 60 games if we are successful in all competitions. The need for squad rotation will be high. In front three we could use 'Bale - New Striker - Adebayor' alternating with 'Bale - New Striker - Lennon' in certain games. Adebayor playing in 25-30 games in starting 11 I am sure he will be happy with.

I rate Lennon massively and feel next season he is gonna be massive for us but his injury record is not great and keeping him fresh for say 30 games may benefit us and him.

Just a thought :)

Here, i found it

http://ibnlive.in.com/news/mourinho-warns-inter-against-villasboas/243910-5-21.html

Villas-Boas served under Mourinho at both Porto and Inter but the pair's relationship broke down after the former left the Nerazzurri in 2009 to take charge of Academica. However, it is not yet known exactly why Mourinho does not believe Villas-Boas is the man to revive the ailing Nerazzurri.
