Better than players not making the grade being hung on to for a few seasons before finally being sold. Transfers aren't an exact science, for every Alli there's a Janssen. I'm quite pleased he moves so decisively once he's made his mind up

Oh don't get me wrong, I agree with this. It's just slightly concerning to me as it indicates that he is not getting the calibre or type of players that he wants.

Or that he is getting who he wants, but he's not a particularly good judge of a player unless they are one that he's previously managed.

I know we get priced out of players due to wages, but I always found it odd that we seemingly went from our supposedly number one target in Batshuyi to Jansenn. They seem completely different types of CF.

i reckon most of you are misinterpreting the dier/rashford thing. i think its more like 'dier is not for sale, you can only have him if we get [random player you're not letting go under any circumstances]'
Together with the ITK from Poch and Levy at the end of the season saying no one who we don't want to get rid of is for sale.

Although Son showed glimpses of his quality in his first season there is no doubt he truly excelled this season.

He took a season to bed in properly. I hope Janssen gets the chance to do likewise. However if we do move him on perhaps it's to do with doubts over his fitness and keeping up with the pace of this league.

Now if only we told City they can only have Walker in exchange for Aguero...

Or that he puts a lot of emphasis on training. If you don't put the effort in on the training pitch you are off.
It is very difficult to tell how well a player trains from scouting.

It really isn't. That's kind of a bread-and-butter part of the job for those involved in transfers. Gather the qualitative intel on whether or not a player actually would fit in.

God, last years window needs to be erased from the memory bank ASAP. I know the transfer figures mean nothing as their are time sensitive clauses attached, but to think that 47m in the reported fees from last years window could be leaving this window makes me ill. We have had a great return with the likes of Toby, Dele and so forth, but god last years window as abysmal.

Like score goals. Oh wait.....

His all round play is good, he does the things we want from our fulcrum striker, works hard, holds up, lays off, works the CB's, and we've seen evidence that he can finish when decent chances are created, in holland and latterly with us. He's young, having his first season, look at how much Son has improved in one year.

Agreed. And compare his first to his last appearances. Clearly a leaner, fitter and better player.

Is he a title contender striker though? Not does he look better than he was. Will he come in and score 15 plus next season? We need to think big and maybe be ruthless

Would love Douglas Costa, not so
Much for his footballing but it would be the closest chance of having my name on the back of a Spurs jersey

I'd also be happy for Janssen to stay on, just to see if he can have a Son like metamorphosis in his second season. As we've seen before it can take a while to adapt to our style before Poch can trust you.

That said Son was preferred to him when Harry was injured and he is more of a false 9 at best (I much prefer him wide). Janssen has also not taken any opportunities at all. Wouldn't surprise me if Poch wanted to move on.

He's had some bright spots, such as the neat flick vs Swansea, and certainly puts himself about, but certainly needs to work on his finishing. I'm just not sure if he'll ever adapt to the pace of the league and how much less space you get in the area compared to Holland.

Problem is that finding an understudy to Harry is very difficult. I'd personally love someone like Llorente who could be an impact sub as well as injury cover. I do really like the Schick link, who also has the dribbling ability to be an inside forward.

Personally I'd rather we spent the money on a pacey WF and maybe a Barlkley type like we seem to be doing, and give him another season. Son and possibly Dele can play false 9 if he's still not up to it (if Harry is out again).

Wanyama's impact was worth all of that on his own

Who has a title winning striker on their bench ? Chelsea - the title winners - would rather play without a striker than play Batshuayi most of the season. How many teams "back up" striker scores 15 goals ?

We've also got players like Alli, Son and Eriksen (especially the first two) who are defacto back up strikers.

Well batman was obv not good enough so they haven't played him, let's see who they have next year! Arsenal have Giroud and Wellbeck, city Aguero, Jesus, ineacho. Utd have Martial, Rashford, Ibra, Rooney. Liverpool have Sturridge on the bench.
