Yup. Fanciful I know but a guy can hope

Not crazy..just very unlikely. Besides, judging by how he is doing this year, perhaps last year was just a flash in the pan?

As I side earlier, I don't actually think it will be possible to add the type of player we need in January, especially given our early exit from the Champions League.

Unfortunately Mahrez is gonna have a whole host of clubs with deep pockets after him.

I mentioned this name a few weeks ago: Ryad Boudebouz

Here's a great write-up on him: http://www.getfootballnewsfrance.co...-league-should-be-calling-for-ryad-boudebouz/

He's been amazing for Montpellier this season. He just helped them engineer a shocking 3-0 win against PSG yesterday and scored the third goal. He's a true #10. Can score goals, can generate chances out of nothing, great dribbler with lots of flair and has good workrate. Wage wise, he's probably on less than most of our first team, and a transfer fee would be pretty low. He's a bit of a late bloomer, as last season was the one that saw him break through with 12 assists. With that said, he's never really played in a quality side with good players around him. He'd be a gamble, but I think he's better than both Njie and Nkoudou, and more like the type of Payet style player our squad is missing at the moment.

If Poch is intent on bringing one player in, he'd be the best of a small realistic pool. Though with Mackenzie gone from the club, it's probably a longshot (I think he was the one who was the Ligue 1 maven).

I mentioned him the other week in the "do we need signings in january" thread.

Great minds and all that :)

- 1 player in who can improve the first team
- 1/2 players we loan back for the season (Da Silva Lopes @ Peterborough, Lookman @ Charlton, Henry @ Brentford, Chaplin @ Pompey)
- New contract for Hugo

- Pray a Chinese Jugganaught comes for Sissoko
- Sell Tom Caroll (Winks is ahead of him now)
- Loan deal for Walker-Peters and maybe some other Youths

= Good Jan Window

This thread is a bit like a rave from the 90's. It takes some time to build, reaches its crescendo on transfer deadline evening, then things go flat for a while as we neurologically adjust to the morning light of a dull Monday commute to a soul destroying job in some pinching town or city.
I blame A&C, who despite his contrived cynicism, is actually a cheerleader of the psychologically altered SC community.

No it isn't. We don't need anyone else at all now, we just need to make the players we've already got, perform to the best of their ability.

really? did you see us try and juggle two competitions? our lack of quality last season was a big reason why we didn't go on and win it

We never do any big deals in Jan. And any player who is going to significantly improve us will be too important for his current team to let go in January. I don't see anything happening at all.

I think the fact that Leicester were unbeaten in their last 12 games, winning 8 of them had more to do with it.
